If they want to go spread with size they could throw Fleming (6/3, 195), West (6/2, 209), Broyld (6/3, 223), and Custis (6/6, 225). The OL is Hickey (6/5, 300), Palmer (6/2. 316), Miller (6/2, 305), Trudo (6/3, 292), and Foy (6/4, 318). Hunt is listed at 233 and he is 6/3.

None of the TB's are what you would call small. Gully is a powerful 5/9. Morris and McFarlane are both 6/0 and we know Moore's issue has been he's been too big.

Not the most speed at WR, but if these guys can defeat man coverage and run block at all effectively they could put defenses in a real bind. They could run power or go four wide with the same personnel.

Versatility is what you see on championship teams. You can win with one or the other, but having both of those skillsets with the same personnel is what sets teams apart.

Size on the OL, but thin at DT. Like the options you present but scared on the other side for the exact reasons. I personally saw us lose multiple games the last few years to teams who just bull rushed us and got 6-7 yards a carry. Not the FSU, Clemsons, but the Pitts, UL's and BC's. Hope we can contain there with WW and co.

Sorry, this is not what you were discussing in this thread primarily...

Flemming if he can play effectively will be a great story.

Amen. Really rooting for him to stay healthy. He made a great grab against Penn State then, poof...gone for the year.

Some of the OL weights are not consistent with other reports -- Foy for example .

But whatever is accurate, this is not a big line compared to Pitt, BC or most of the BiG.

Aren't playing in the BiG.

And to point was that the team was big across the board, not the OL in particular, or at least could be depending on the personnel grouping. Still four of five guys 300 plus and not fat slobs is good size.

I'd love to see this year's team feature a running attack like what SU did to WVU in the Pinstripe. With the talent at OL and depth at RB, I think SU could create lots of problems against the smaller LB's most teams use. Add in Hunt and you have 5-6 guys capable of doing damage with their legs...not even counting Estime on jet sweeps.

Shafer said that it's intentional. They all lost weight but maintained or exceeded numbers in the weight room. Need to be slimmer for up tempo.

Yes -- the OL is slimmer, not big by most P5 standards.
The observation is that Hunt is big and many of our WRs are tall. Other than Custis our TEs are on the small side; same with the RBs other than Ammen-Moore.

Not to throw cold water on any of our recent commits, but I am a little uncomfortable seeing us sign smurfy defensive backs. Didn't we take a couple kids who are only about 5-9 in this group? I recall one is from Florida and I believe the other is the highly-rated NJ kid, but geez, I thought we were trying to get away from that.
