The Yankees remembered that they were the Yankees and rolled to the best regular season record in baseball, 103-59 and then through playoffs, sweeping the Twins and beating both the Angels and Phillies in six games. Winning the five team AL East added 4 more points for a crushing total of 63 than ended the year’s suspense, especially when the Mets became the most injured baseball team in 56 years and finished 70-92, better than only 5 teams.
