However, as an ACC fan I actually think Ohio State losing to Michigan State could affect Syracuse and here is why. If Ohio State lost to Michigan State then the Orange Bowl would be sitting on an Alabama vs. Ohio State game since they get the first pick and would get a replacement for FSU and that could cause Clemson to fall out of the BCS and hurt the ACC bowl pecking order.

If Auburn and Ohio State lose on Saturday then the BCS Championship game would be Mizzou vs Florida State. Alabama would get jumped by Mizzou and then the BCS would look like this unless Northern Illinois loses tonight.

BCS Championship Mizzou vs. Florida State
Orange Bowl- Alabama vs. Ohio State
Rose Bowl- Michigan State vs. Stanford/Arizona State
Sugar Bowl- UCF vs. Clemson/Baylor
Fiesta Bowl- Oklahoma State vs. Northern Illinois

Who would the Sugar Bowl take Baylor or Clemson? My bet is Baylor because of location. If the ACC doesn't get 2 BCS bids it knocks everyone down a peg on the bowl tier. I still think we could get to a bowl because the Big XII would have less spot open up elsewhere, but this bears watching. I want Ohio State to lose, but it could create an opening for the Orange Bowl to have Bama-OSU which I don't think they would pass on even though they have the ACC affiliation.

I would think the Sugar would take Clemson over Baylor. Clemson travels well. Very well. Baylor is a small (at least smaller than Syracuse) in Waco, TX. I can't imagine them selling as many tickets as Clemson. But who knows?

Baylor sent 45k fans to the Alamo Bowl a few years ago (I was there)...only a 2.5 hr drive though. I'd imagine they would send at least 20k to New Orleans (under 8 hours). Not sure Clemson would do any better.

OK, who knew? Good for them. 20 is probably what Clemson would send, so that's a wash.

But wait, hold on, didn't Clemson bring like 15K fans to Syracuse!!!

Long term...not sure Baylor can support those type of numbers but they are the hot program right now. Baylor alumni are wealthy and it sure helps to be able to drive to bowl games.

there is a rule that a conference team in national championship , the bowl that team represents can block in this case Alabama from going to orange bowl if they want them for sugar bowl same with Clemson and orange bowl

so in your scenario it would be ohiuo state vs Clemson and Alabama vs ucf

Not sure you right. Orange Bowl losing number 1 Florida State could pick an SEC if they wanted because FSU was #1 and Mizzou/Auburn would be #2 and they get the 2nd pick. Bama will be available to the Orange Bowl.
