than being a fan of SU football now is also being a Cleveland Browns fan which is what I am. When you think about it, both have similar issues: inconsistent QB play, undisciplined with too many penalties, poor OL, overhyped in pre-season.

And both long for the days when they had Jim Brown.

I will say that aside from the penalties and the freakish run of turnovers, they played pretty well yesterday. Chubb just had an Earnest Byner day where he ran like a man possessed and kept them in the game but had 2 critical fumbles, one that resulted in a TD for NE and one that likely took points off the board for the Browns.
McCray is a huge upgrade over Robinson at LT, so i'm optimistic for the rest of the season.
I was hoping OBJ would be better than he has. He makes some unbelievable catches, but he's good for one big drop per game and his body language is terrible when Baker misses him one time. He's such a diva.
Kitchens is hopefully learning from all of his mistakes, but I'm worried about the lack of discipline and all of the small mistakes the team makes that has cost them at least 3 games this far (Tenn, Sea, NE and maybe LA, SF was a shellacking). Freddy made 3 big mistakes yesterday-the 2 challenges and the really strange 4th down sequence late in the game.
I'm going they take advantage of the remaining schedule and build some momentum for the offseason, where they hopefully pick up a good LB and at least 2 OL. They are only a couple of pieces from being contenders from a talent standpoint. The rest is up to eliminating the mistakes.

What a really, really disappointing 2 months for us SU-CLE fans. SMH

Miami Dolphins fan here.

Chicago Bears fan here. Other than the penalties, the weekends have been tough. I never liked Trubisky being drafted in the first place, especially to move up to get him when nobody else was even interested in him at that spot. I'm not sure which offense is harder to watch, at least Sunday the Bears offense was okay. The week before it was painful.

I agree and I think they win their division - that said their coach represents a lot of what I am frustrated with Dino about - no team discipline, sh---y body language and in game decision making/clock management that is perplexing to say the least.

Off topic I think the Pats are a little hype this year. Schedule has helped them.

similar uniforms :)

Patriots fan here. Such a strange juxtaposition watching a team that seems incapable of building a program on Saturday and supporting a team that makes all the right moves on Sunday.

To lose one fumble when the ball gets kicked out of your hands by your own lineman, and another caught from behind inside the ten yd. line, was just freakish bad luck. A couple of questionable offensive pass interference calls didn’t help.

Also, the juxtaposition of referee support. Some dubious calls yesterday, if I'm to be honest. I'm not making excuses because the 3 TOs were the difference, just pointing out that the game was not called evenly.

And a sack nullified by a very questionable hands to the face and a really weak PI on Greedy.

I actually agree Browns were called harshly. But based on the fact that was like the typical game for them I wonder if it’s, in this case, more of a browns thing than a patriots thing

Ya, been a difficult early fall. Orange football is frustrating and my Raiders just keep on finding ways to lose (same old too many penalties). I agree with one comment above about the Pats seem to get their fair share of questionable calls, but they look really good again this year. I feel for the Bears fans as well after that missed FG at the end of the game yesterday, and it was against one of those other hated AFC West teams.

Hey, my Islanders and Bruins have both started of the season pretty good :)

ain't no top draft picks in the NCAA to reward failure. in fact it works the opposite. rich get richer.

Thought exactly the same.

Patriots are the last team to need a zebra ride.

Yet they seem to be enjoying that jockey view.

It's tough as both a SU fan and a NY Giants fan this year.
I swear, the past couple of weeks, wathing both teams has been like deja vu.
Both have the same issues - too many stupid penalties, no QB protection, QB taking sacks as the worst possible time, missed FGs, moving backwards when in scoring range, screw job calls by refs, etc., etc.
Not a good football year for me.
Let's hope SU hoops season goes better.

man I’m right in the same boat as you. It’s rough

Likewise. And my passion for cuse is 5x my passion for the pats. It’s like I get third degree burns on Saturday and the pats game gives me an ice pack for 3 hours.

And I fell for the hype on both of them. I think I predicted 10 wins for each. Maybe even more for the Browns, and did so emphatically. Even suggested they could make the AFC championship game before going down, while setting them up for a run to win it all in 20-21. Oops. Baker just doesn’t look like he has the ability to adjust to defenses when they do a good job disguising what they are going to do. He needs his first or second read to be there, and quickly. Even saying second read is a stretch at times. Granted, his OLine sucks, so he doesn’t have much time anyway. Though he makes them look worse than they are at times by bailing the pocket prematurely, and hoping he can use his feet to make a play. He ain’t no Mahomes there. Unfortunately, I don’t see this changing much. It’s something that is hard to learn over time especially when using your feet to extend the play has worked so well all throughout your playing days. See Mariota, and Kaep as other examples of this. The NFL will give you a year or so before they take this away.

As for Syracuse, I think DeVito has a similar problem, but his is fixable, especially if the OLine just improves their play. He isn’t so much looking to extend the play and leaving the pocket too early, as he is just running for his life to not get murdered. I still have all the faith in the world that he is the man for the job to lead us toward success in the future. If they can put the pieces needed around him then he’s the man to help us contend with the top squads in the ACC. Holding out hope that we make the changes necessary to compete. And that means having the right coaches in place as well. That could be the guys we have now, or maybe not. It’s on Dino to decide that. Some of his statements are troublesome. Even little comments on the radio show. Snide remarks about referees, and seems at times that he will refuse to be critical of his staff or himself. Putting it more on the players, or coming across like it’s something out of his control. I don’t know. It’s probably not a big deal, as coaches have big egos. But, you have to be critical of all parts of the game to correct what you can control. Anyway, let’s just put up 40, and beat BC. The O/U is 59, so the books expecting some points to be scored.
