Is if we find a beast at quaterback. We will never recruit deep enough to compete head to do with the Florida States. Somehow someway this staff has to find a difference maker at qb...give me Marvin Graves 2.0

Without a QB you don't have a team. I don't care if its HS, College, NFL. The rule changes have made it impossible to win without a QB. Every rule change in recent years is slanted towards the passing game and the QB/WR's. Until SU gets a QB it will stay in that 5-7 win range forever.

I wouldn't write off Hunt just yet. He is a redshirt sophomore. Who has played as much football as a Florida kid who would be a junior in high school.

Well, luckily we think as of now that we might possibly have two highly rated QB prospects coming in. Need one at least one of them to hold tight all the way to signing day and not pull an Allen and then need him/them to pan out.

Fixed. ;)

Hunt has to do a ton of work in the offseason. He needs to work on his release, timing with WR in their routes and most importantly accuracy. The smart teams, like FSU are blitzing 6-7 guys a play, asking us to beat them with the pass. We have not shown the ability to do that. We throw WR screens and jump balls that sometimes our guys come down with. There are very few slants completed, crossing routes, posts, or curls

Not true.
Do elaborate. We have a 2 star and a3 star qb. Put them together and we have a 5 star qb coming in... Don't get me wrong... Like them both...but they are not what is universally considered " highly rated."

I don't see any reason why we can't get back to top 25 status relatively soon. We're a middle of the pack ACC team with a brand new coaching staff, first year in the ACC and Big East recruits. We seem to be addressing areas of need pretty well on the recruiting trail already.

Contending for a Championship, yea we have a ways to go but if we trot out a stud QB, who knows.

Doc, not trying to split hairs and certainly want to avoid the argument about which recruiting service is more accurate than others, but at least one lists Edouard is a 4 star.

That, by any account, is "highly rated," and certainly paints the incoming QB prospects in a different light than what you suggest above. Especially since it has also been suggested that Long will be reevaluated as a 3 star [or higher].

Stars don't mean much to me [I tend to pay more attention to offers], but this duo suggests that the future isn't as bleak at QB as suggested.

Nope . Don't you know by definition if you sign with the Cuse you are not highly rated?

If I were Hunt, and had any thoughts of playing for money, I'd pull a Doug Hogue and find a position that he has a future in.

Next spring is going to be very interesting. Hunt is going to have to improve a ton in order for McDonald to stick with him. It is obvious that he wants to throw the ball and Hunt will need to really improve in order to keep his job long term. The good news is that i believe we have two strong QB's that are RS and we are bringing in two kids who are excellant with their arms and feet. Long term the QB position looks to be in good shape.

I'd rather find a beast wideout. With what we have now, even if Hunt hit the receiver 50% of the time, it might be caught 25% of the time. Those are not good odds.

Right now this team had 2 receivers today West, Ashton, Estime was out, Moore has the size at Tight End, and time for him to play, 2 games left need 1 win. The receivers coming in are faster, taller, and should help in the passing game. Morris , McFarland, once they are given the reins might be very good. The linebacking, and secondary, need to be upgraded, and that looks like where the staff is working. The talent level we have right now is middle of the pack Big East, it will take 3 or 4 years to get enough people to compete with the top schools. Being in the ACC, gives us the opportunity to get commitments from better recruits.

KJ Williams and Custis both are highly rated recievers and more importantly have great offers. Be patient. With Marrone leaving and taking the whole staff, I think we are doing okay thus far. This blowout hurts but it isnt the end of the world. Hunt didn't play his best game, but he also didn't play his worst game either. Give this staff at least another season to show some improvement.

Oh I have nothing against the staff. (And ok I don't follow recruiting that closely) Good to know. Thanks!

How's this for elaboration? By your method, I say we have two 4 star QB's coming in because that's what ESPN says. Skout isn't the only recruiting site out there. You just happened to pick the 1 of the 3 that ranks our QB recruits the lowest.

We've gone 8-5 two of the last three years.

And we will be fine in the years to come.

Ugh.

Our WR recruiting class this year, if it holds and adds Steve Ishmael as expected who we've led for for a while, will be our strongest on paper since the recruiting services started 11 years ago. KJ Williams is a Rivals 250 recruit and an Army AA game nominee, something we've never had. Corey Cooper had 15+ Power 5 conference offers last year before not qualifying and having to go Prep. Jamal Custis is a 6-6 athletic freak, and Ishmael might end up being the best of the bunch, he's a 10+ Power 5 conference offer kid out of Florida and arguably one of the top 5 receivers in that state this year.

Help is on the way :)

Don't forget we also have a great shot at Adly Enoicy at 6-5 fits that freak type of athlete WR/TE type of player.

There really are a ton of reasons why that isn't the case, but I admire the positive attitude.

I'm amazed that we have a good chance to make a bowl while getting pretty much nothing from our QBs.
