I love the discussion that this weekend's positive performance has sparked. It's interesting how quickly all of us jump to conclusions based on one game, though (myself included).

As many here know, I married into LSU and follow that program almost as closely as SU now. It was incredible to hear the fan base and local pundits jump on the Brandon Harris (true freshman) bandwagon after he showed some promise across a couple games while Anthony Jennings struggled. Everybody agreed it was time for him to start and he was given the opportunity at Auburn. Perry Patterson and Madei Willliams would have made fun of how he looked. I haven't seen a high D1 player look at bad EVER. So now Anthony Jennings is back as the starter.

All this is to say that none of us have a real clue how this will play out and we should all use a little caution as we set our expectations.

Nah. I am jumping on any positive thing I can find. If I am disappointed later that's OK with me - I'll just find some other positive kernel somewhere.

I know that I am excited to see what Long and Wilson (and Eduard) bring to the table moving forward. I'm also realistic and know that these guys - especially AJ, are very young so they'll make mistakes. I'm OK with that. Everyone makes mistakes. Our QBs certainly will.

I'm just hoping to see a more positives than negatives. We need a spark that gives us that "little something extra" that we've been missing on O. FSU game was a nice start for our young guns. So far, so good. Now let's keep rolling.

I'm excited to watch the team play this weekend. LGO!

Agreed. My co-worker's son went to Friendship Christian with AJ - she was very excited to hear from me that he started this weekend, she's also told me that he was a great kid.

This is wisdom.

that game Harris had against Auburn looks a lot like Hunt's horrible clemson, gt, nc st stretch last year

Long already had his 'start' against a really good team and he passed that test with flying colors.

We are not in the same spot as LSU as a program. LSU can go with the boring QB that may get them wins and to a bowl game. If they don't do that then people get fired. Our program is looking for a jump start. If we continue going 6-6 with Hunt that isn't going to jump start the program. We need to roll the dice with young players that show a spark to excite the fan base and team. We need hope. Hunt IMO doesn't give the fan base or program hope. The young players we have at the position especially Long brought excitement to the field and to the dome. That is what the program needs.

My nephew played football with AJ in PA and said he's a great guy. Another reason to root for the kid.

i don't follow LSU but did they freak out over losing to Miss St? at the time they might not have realized how good MSU is

mild freakout, but the main takeaway was "holy crap, they are good for real!". that's distinct from some of Les' What outings over the past few years. i think at the point of the MSU game, the takeaway was "we're super young and let's be ok having a decent rebuild year." after auburn it was "we're not winning another game this season." this weekend's drama against a very average florida team only slightly adjusted spirits upward.

this is an aside, but we're at a crazy point in the program cycles in the sec west. the early defections have actually caught up a lot with bama, lsu and a&m...while ole miss and msu have darn good 4 year players leading them. i don't think that half of the conference has lost a game outside of that half of the conference yet (including ooc games).

Just exactly does Eduard bring to the table besides an empty dish?

Kid has to show up first before he brings anything to the table.

I would like to see Kimble get a few series if Wilson can't go, might as well kick all the tires at this point. I don't think there was much separating the 3 back ups and would be nice to see what Kimble does when the lights come on as well.

I hear ya. I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt for now. Nothing more, nothing less.

Coach says he's in and Alin says he's in. We'll see how the chips fall soon enough. Until then I'm happy to see our other young QBs grow and take the reigns.

Be patient, we'll shred these QBs to pieces soon enough.

They don't stand a chance. I just hope it's not this weekend. But yeah, at Clemson, 7 pm start, that's going to be a QB pig roast here. That defense in that environment? If Long passes that test, he gets the keys to the bus for as long as he wants them.

Word is that a back injury from HS is acting up. Apparently, that is why he has not progressed. That sounds ominous to me.

I coach with a man who played football at LSU around 30 years ago. Great coach by the way. He's forgotten more about the game than I'll ever know - so I ask him questions about every scenario possible.

Anywho - He knows a lot about the ins and outs of the LSU program, and how many LSU fans are saying Les Miles deserves to be fired right now. He always says this quote to describe LSU Football. "The perfect dream scenario for a LSU Football fan would be for the Tigers to go undefeated, beat Alabama, Win the National Championship, and fire their head coach."

Makes me laugh every time he says it.

That's funny. Maybe LSU can trade Miles to Michigan?
