was it ever mentioned in the PConf or did the paper ever discuss just how bad a call that was? why dont they ever contact the ref who screwed up and ask what he saw that allowed him to make such a bad call? the GB game guy has been on the news , they are not bound by a code of silence are they? much like the NW screw up shouldn't they have to explain themselves? the players and coaches get asked questions why not the refs?

I don't know how the BE refs are handled. It didn't look like anyone wanted to make the call because the two guys came in and just looked at each other for a few seconds before they signaled RU ball.

As for the ref from the GB-Sea game, he is no longer an employed referee so he's free to do whatever he wants. If he were still an NFL ref, he wouldn't be allowed to go on tv the way he has been. I believe the NFL doesn't allow refs to engage the media on their own.

Thought the ball came out after he was down, even at the game it didn't seem close

That was clearly a parting shot from the BE. Hard to think of it as anything else.

if the rutgers kicker kicks the extra point this play wouldnt have mattered anyway... it was a bs call however so was toledo last year

Agreed. If given the chance, the BE will do it again. Our job is to play well enough that one blown call won't determine the outcome of the game.

I for one do not want referees coming on tv having to explain themselves. Let the league office handle it if it is absolutely necessary.

it could have mattered, if you take away the TD then we are only down a fg at the end and instead of ahail mary to the end zone we just need to get into FG range.. On top of that the momentum of the game changed quite a bit with that score.

Exactly. And based on the ref's wording "The call on the field stands..." The couldn't overturn because they didn't have sufficient video evidence, and not that it was a fumble.

I felt that they did have sufficient video evidence to overturn the call. There was one angle of replay that showed Rene on his back on the ground when Greene ripped at the ball and it popped out. I was certain they were going to overturn that call.

Ditto.

Careful, the previous FG try didn't turn out so good for us.

After watching the replay I had zero doubt it would be reversed. Zero nada zilch.

who cares. he's basically been totally ineffective at punt or kickoff returns.
