It first sounded to me like the court size thing. But the announcers seemed to be saying it seriously though.

If it is true, wouldn't things need to be adjusted. Maybe SU at home has tight rims, if so:

Does this help hinder our opponents 3 pt %? Is this part of our home court advantage? Our zone sucks teams into the outside shot which is harder with the tight rims in the dome.

Does this help account for our poor FT %? And help explain SWC's findings of overall down FT%? Remember SWC's extensive look at our vs opponent FT % and how there wasn't much difference.

Shouldn't there be a rim tension measure? Shouldn't it be disclosed. What about mandating a range or uniformity to it? Or what about the NCAA loosening it up all over for more O overall?

Is the Carrier dome really like bowling on extra oily lanes. Or golfing at a substantially harder course? Is our defense designed for the tighter rims?

I trust Bilas, and he says it's so. And it does seem like there should be a rim tension standard in this day and age. I know I used to hate playing hoops in the parks around the Cuse because the rims were completely unforgiving, and seemingly several inches higher than regulation. Especially if all anyone had was one of those rubber basketballs. Like trying to throw a Super Ball in a bathtub drain. Ugh.

Heck yes it is real, did you see those rims move in Maui? They looked like they were made of jello. The one on the left (in the primary TV view) was so lose, I saw it dip a couple times just from a swish passing through the net. Did you notice the bizarre behavior of the ball when it was on the rim? Also a complete and total lack of any long rebounds? I've never seen rims that lose in a televised game and it absolutely helped the FG%.

I don't know the exact quote this is referring to. But anyplace that has the hoops hanging from the ceiling have softer rims. Shooting percentages at Duke and Maui generally would be higher than at a place like the dome where the rims are put on a base.
