^^I pointed the BT mistake out on another thread the other day. They are running this site like they run most everything else - halfass --- especially the video screens at the BBall games.

I was getting ready to post the same thing and then thought I can't be the only person this bothers. The boxscore is there for me though. It can't be that hard for them to change the background. You woudl think one of the media classes could take this responsibility on. I mean there are schools whose Hospitality program actually runs functioning hotels. We can't get someone at Newhouse to help run a website? I'd bet there are 9-10,000 students on campus that could do a better job from their dorm room.

Newhouse has nothing to do with the AD's website. In my opinion, most of the threads on the basketball/football boards regarding the horrid marketing of SU sports could be solved if the athletic department communicated more with Newhouse.

You have hundreds of the best and brightest students looking for things to put in their resume/portfolios. Also, you have a bunch of in-house professors (I personally know of several advertising professors) who have worked in the highest positions in some of the biggest advertising agencies around the globe.

From pregame/ceremonial videos, to billboards, to word of mouth grass roots campaigns, Newhouse could be a tremendous asset to the athletic department. But for some reason, the link between the two seems non-existent.

Just an FYI, the background may not be something the sports info staff can change themselves. The site is run by an outside vendor (even if, in this case, Sidearm is actually based out of the SU campus). I know with my school's athletics website, anything aesthetically in terms of the actual design of the site - including the background picture - can only be done by the vendor. We don't use Sidearm but use a very similar company, and I imagine it's much the same with Sidearm.

...but someone from the university can certainly ask the vendor to update the background...I mean it has been 7 months since they played a game.

I agree. I just wanted to make it clear that it's not as simple as someone in the athletics department simply swapping out the picture, and that they probably don't even have the ability to do so themselves.
