The Troy Nunes site offers a good set of names and numbers via Shawn Keeley.Whigham is not suited to play cornerback. He might be far more suited to play one of the safety positions. Perhaps another coach is required which IMO isn't far off the mark. When your DBs are so far off the WR at the snap it creates a huge advantage for the opposition receivers That gap allows for quick inside or out cuts that goes to their advantage. crowding them makes them commit early and turns them over to the safety with the CB covering underneath. Often enough to bump into a pick and maybe a pick-6. Winfield has given us one of those earlier this season. Blair ever gets to the Orange he can cover the deep's with his speed and ability. We need high end secondary player next year.

besides whighma i think the secondary is playing ok.

I thought the secondary overall played well against LSU but clearly weren't challenged from a passing perspective.

The blitzing scheme leaves the secondary open to big plays. Couple that with keeping everyone in the box to stop Fournette. Unless you have total lockdown corners it's going to happen. Overall I was pleased with the way the cornerbacks, including Whigham played against LSU. They were playing more aggressive at the LOS and tackling well.

On the other hand I thought the safties took bad angles on Fournette's big runs. Additionally, without going to game tape it appears they are taking bad angles or a step slow in decision making on long passing plays. This will have to be corrected once ACC season begins. The safties are young and will learn.
