[QUOTE="pfister1, post: 3385586, member: 285"] Just wanted to share this story. The ARC Onondaga is a non-profit organization that provides a range of services to people in Onondaga County who have developmental disabilities. One of their objectives is to support people with developmental and physical disabilities in living their lives as independently as possible including living independently and working in the community. They often refer to the people they support as ARC Achievers. Julie serves on one of the supporting Boards for the organization and she and Coach lend their names, time and energy to helping the organization in a variety of ways. During the shut down ARC has been having zoom calls to bring their Achievers together and give them some of the connection that they miss in not being able to get out, attend jobs and see friends and family. Sounds familiar right? In any case Julie was a guest participant in a recent such call. On the call the Achievers were talking about how the crisis was affecting them, what they were doing to try to stay busy, and talking about how much they miss seeing friends and family. During the call one of the Achievers asked Julie how her son, Buddy, was doing? Turned out Buddy was home (aren't we all) and Julie got him to join the call. Apparently, after a bit JB realized what was going on and he joined the call as well. You can imagine how excited these people were and how much that small commitment of Julie, Buddy and JB's time meant to them. Anyway these are the kinds of things that the Boeheim family have always done to support our community...much of it not publicized. We all know about the Basket Ball and some of the big ticket/big hearted things that JB does to support people afflicted with cancer, but thought you'd get a kick out of the story that demonstrates some of the other smaller ways that they contribute.
