- Apparently we have some offensive talent after all. Maybe those numbers Dino’s teams at EIU and BG put up aren’t unobtainable after all – against Albany, anyway.

- Not everybody does that to Albany. In fact nobody has scored that much against them in 8 years and 84 games. During that time they played one other power 5 team, Pittsburgh, who beat them 33-7 in 2018. They opened this season against North Dakota State. The Bison, who are pretty good, (basically the Alabama of FCS), beat the Great Danes 28-6, outgaining them 387-205. We outgained them 623-135.

- I recall reading years ago about two athletes. I think one was Deon Sanders and the other was an Olympic sprinters. In the first story Sanders was wearing a T-short that said “If we’re even, I’m leavin’. The sprinter had one that said ‘Hello’ on the front and ‘Goodbye’ on the back. That was Sean Tucker today. The ACC may have some guys who can keep up with him but Albany, didn’t.

- Both quarterbacks performed well but it’s clear that DeVito should be the #1 guy. He operated the offense with greater efficiency and is clearly the better passer. He also showed that he could run the ball, running the option, no less. But Schrader runs the ball like Dungey did. He and Tucker are dynamite on the RPO. But Garrett is going to produce more turnovers because he’s not as accurate a thrower and takes too many chances with the ball. Whereas Tommy is conservative to a fault, preferring to throw the ball out of bounds if anything goes wrong when a play has broken down, Garrett refuses to throw the ball out of bounds at all and is willing to throw across his body and into coverage to make something of the play. Tommy had a pic, too, for a touchdown but that was a pass that should have been caught that went off the receiver’s hands.

- We lost both Taj Harris and Luke Benson early so Dino had to use his younger receivers and, instead of focusing on Harris, we moved the ball around. Nine different players caught passes and we finally got a couple of TD passes, one to Ticker but also a beautiful one from DeVito to 6-6 Damien Alford, who got separation, caught up to the ball and extended to make the catch while keeping his stride. This was just after the Great Danes got their pic 6 and the score was only 14-10. It was the beginning of 48 unanswered points. Anthony Queeley had a long pass play for a score called back due to holding.

- Dino and Coach Schmidt switched Airon Servais back to his original position of center and a couple of Tucker’s scoring runs came off of Airon’s blocks. Dakota Davis played the second half so he could be back full-time next week. The offensive line may finally be ready to come together.

- In 2019 Jeff Undercuffler threw 41 touchdown passes and Karl Mofor ran for 1,290 yards. In this game Undercullfer threw for 69 yards and no scores while Mofor ran for 10 yards. The Danes got one TD on a tipped pass interception when the game was still competitive. Down 10-62, they scored two late TDs against the third stringers, one after a muffed kickoff runback. Our defense had 12 TFLs and 8 sacks.

2-1 with 9+ to go

LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
