- We won and now it will just be a score in the media guide. That’s good enough for me. - Judah always gets his points. He also got 3 each of points, assists and steals. - Justin Taylor is playing with aggression and confidence. He’s got 36 points in the three games, including 8 for 15 from three. He also had 21 rebounds in three games, as well as 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. - Quadir Copeland had a huge game on the boards with 13 rebs and 22 in three games, to go with 14 assists, 5 steals and a block. You play like that, the points will come and he’s got 26 of them. I also think he’s our best defender. - JJ Starling had 34 points in the three games, with 11 rebounds 7 rebounds, 3 steals and a block. He’s the one SU player that reminds me of Daniels – he plays within the context of the game and takes advantage of his opportunities. He doesn’t try to take over the game. - I haven’t seen Kyle Cuff put on a duking exhibition like his high school tape. I wonder if his injury and surgery is responsible for that. Or maybe just trying to fit in on a team with many options. But I like his quickness and that he gives us an extra shooter. We need one. - Maliq Brown was able to play 24 minutes and stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 6 rebs and 4 steals. It did seem on his two missed, (he was 4 for 6) that they were shots he would normally have made, so maybe his groin is still bothering him but you can’t demand 6 for 6. 1-0 with 30+ to go… LET’S GO ORANGE! Net Points This year I’m going to make things a bit easier on myself and just list the net points in each game after the Upside. Once a month I’ll do a deeper dive into the numbers rather than doing a “Net Points, etc.” post after every game. ‘Net’ points is the positives (points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) minus the negatives, (missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and fouls committed). Quadir Copeland 17NP in 27 minutes Maliq Brown 16NP in 24 minutes. Justin Taylor 14NP in 29 minutes Judah Mintz 13NP in 27 minutes Naheem McLeod 7NP in 10 minutes Chris Bell 6NP in 19 minutes JJ Starling 6NP in 35 minutes Peter Carey 3NP in 6 minutes Kyle Cuffe 3NP in 23 minutes Recruited players who did not play: Mounir Hima, William Patterson, Chance Westry, Bennie Williams
