- I continue to be impressed with the development of Jesse Edwards. He followed up his 21 point game against Arizona State with a 17 point game tonight. He’s smooth and athletic and has all the moves you’d like to see in your center. He was going up against Walker Kessler and Jabari Smith. Jesse came out as, (per 247) the 198th best player in his class and the 38th best center prospect. Kessler was #22 and #5. Jabari Smith was #7 and the #2 power forward. But Jesse maneuvered around them to make 7 of 8 baskets and score 17 points. Kessler got into foul trouble guarding him. He’s become a full-fledged scoring threat to go with Cole Swider, Jimmy and Buddy Boeheim and Joe Girard.

- Auburn was all over Buddy Boeheim on every possession, even sending a muscular guy named Lior Berman to constantly shove him (with the approval of the referees). He missed 9 of 12 shots. But he did get to the line 9 times when Mr. Berman wasn’t in there and got his normal 17 points anyway.

- Cole Swider, unlike the VCU game, found ways to score despite the defensive pressure and became the third Orangeman to reach the 17 point plateau.

- JB made a concerted effort to give his three man bench a chance to play. Instead of the 17 minutes Frank, Benny and Symir got vs. Arizona State, they got 51 minutes in this game and John Bol even got 3. The results were mixed at best. Symir got 6 points, 4 rebounds and had 5 assists -but he also had 5 turnovers. Benny had 2 points and 3 steals and was active on defense. But he also had 2 turnovers and 2 fouls. Frank nailed two free throws and grabbed a couple of rebounds but only played 9 minutes. John Bol his half his free throws for a point. But maybe the playing time will do them some good.

3-3 with 25+ to go.

LET’S GO ORANGE!
