[QUOTE="SWC75, post: 2394741, member: 289"] THE UPSIDE - Well, the Middle Tennessee State game didn’t cost us a bowl game. From the final gun of that game, I strongly felt we’d wind up 5-7 and look back on that game with disgust. We still look back on that game with disgust but now it doesn’t matter. - Neither Dino Babers or Brian Ward are going anywhere, at least for now, although Baber might want to take a look at how Ward’s defenses have been serving us. - I thought Rex Culpepper looked pretty good for the most part. He completed 24 for 34 for 280 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 18 more, giving him 2 short of 300 yards total offense. His passes were good spirals and had plenty of zip on them. Pretty good for a guy who is going to be third string next year. - Our senior class has an amazing number of highly respected players for a group that went 15-33. The linebacking trio of Zaire Franklin, Parris Bennett and Jonathan Thomas have totaled 427 solo tackles, 297 assists, (total: 724), 79.5 tackles for a loss and 13.5 sacks. - Steve Ismael went out with one of his best games, 11 catches for 187 yards and a score. He smashed Amba Etta Tawo’s record of 94 catches last year for with 105 for 1,347 yards and 7 scores. Steve wound up with 219 career catches for 2,891 yards and 18 TDs. Erv Phillips didn’t quite match last year’s total of 90 catches but came close as close as you can with 89 for 904 yards and 4 TDs. That gives him 223 catches for 2,069 years and 15 scores. They are the two most prolific receivers in SU history by the number of catches. Steve is #1 in receiving yards. Rob Moore still leads the way in touchdowns with 22. - Cole Murphy has a mixed record but kicked 59 field goals and 118 extra points in his career for a total of 295 points. He’s #1 on the field goal list, #3 in the extra point list and #3 in the scoring list. He deserves to be well remembered. - So do Zach Mahoney, the best back-up quarterback we have had in years, Jamar McGloster, the senior anchor of the offensive line and all the res tof the seniors. There were some good players in that group, just not enough of them. Hopefully we won’t have to say that about the next group. - Despite having the same record and the same disappointing November, this was a better team than last year’s team. Dino said after the game that next year’s team will be better than this one and the next team after that will be better than that team. I believe him. 4-8 and that’s all she wrote LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
