- We won and that may become rare, so let’s enjoy this one.
- Eddie Lampkin had the kind of game we’ve been hoping to see: 18 points, 11 rebounds, 7 for 8 shooting, (surprisingly no assists). He even outshot his teammates from the free throw line, (4 for 6 vs. 10 for 17 – 58.8%).
- Donnie Freeman continued to be a force, especially when we made out run late in the first half that gave us control of the game. He had another double-double with 15 and 11 rebounds, his fifth of the year.
- Jaquan Carlos continued his much-improved pay with 11 points, 9 assists and 3 steals.
- While Chris Bell searches for his shot, Lucas Taylor has found it. He started out the season 1 for 13 from the arch, then went 2/3 vs. Maryland and 3/5 tonight. Lucas may be finding more and more playing time if Chris doesn’t get it going.
- Kyle Cuffe’s contributions don’t show up well in the box score. He did score 9 points, grab 3 rebounds, an assist and two steals. He also missed 6 of 9 shots, (including 1 for 6 from three, which is not what he does best.). Mostly he’s a hustling player who elevates our defense by being out there. He played 24 minutes and had only one turnover, which his teammates should look at. He was the first guy Red sent in off the bench after the bad start.
- Petar Majstorovic had probably his best game so far, going 3 for 4 from the field, including a 3 pointer for 9 points, 5 rebounds, a block and two steals. He did that in 11 minutes, bringing up the question of why he’s only playing 11 minutes. What’s the point of putting Naheem McCloud in there if he’s going to do nothing?
- We finally used the press to good effect. To press, you’ve got to make shots so you have time to set it up while they inbound it and pressing teams often get runs, which stop when they miss, allowing the game to settle into a half-court game they don’t play as well. That’s what happened today. Once we had the 13-0 first half run, it was the tortoise and the hare the rest of the way and we, (the hare), won. But can we press teams better than Bucknell?

Net Points
This year I’m going to make things a bit easier on myself and just list the net points in each game after the Upside. Once a month I’ll do a deeper dive into the numbers rather than doing a “Net Points, etc.” post after every game. ‘Net’ points are the positives (points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) minus the negatives, (missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and fouls committed).
Eddie Lampkin game: 22NP in 28 minutes season: 151NP in 329 minutes = 16.8NP/40m

Petar Majstorovic game: 8NP in 11 minutes season: 28NP in 94 minutes = 11.9NP/40m
Lucas Taylor game: 8NP in 24 minutes season: 28NP in 184 minutes = 6.1NP/40m
