- We’ve lost three in a row but could also have won three in a row. This is the ACC. The worst team in the league, (even if it’s us), won’t be a bad team. Remember when we were 25-0 and ranked #1 and lost at home to a 6-19 Boston College team? There isn’t a single game the rest of the way we can’t win- or lose.
- The players keep playing hard. Don’t give up on them until they give up on themselves. They can get this turned around and you’ll want to be there when it happens.
- Our shooting touch on the three pointers returned, (finally) in the second half. We went 6 for 13 and almost pulled out a game that seemed to be slipping away.
- Our offense in the second half was a lot more aggressive and creative. We had guys cutting to the basket and working the baseline and looked to penetrate and dish, not just jack it up and drive.
- The boards were virtually even at 32-33 and we were +6 on turnovers so the big problems we had vs. Pittsburgh and Miami were both absent.
- Mike Gbinije had a huge comeback game with 22 points and no turnovers. He looked like an All-American again.
- I’ve said that a huge key for this team’s improvement would be to have “the two R’s” achieve some consistency. Both Tyler Roberson and Mal Richardson had “on” games: Roberson hustled the whole game scored 14 points, had more than the 4 rebounds and 1 block he was credited for, a couple steals and several loose balls he got for us, (and that should be a stat). Richardson followed up his 20 point game vs. Miami with a 21 point game tonight. He really, really, really wishes it was 22. But we wouldn’t have been in a positon to win without him, so it’s hard to and 16 rebounds. In the last two games, he’s an incredible 10 for 13 from three point range. 16 for 34 from the field, including
- Tyler Lydon was 1 for 6 from the field but had 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. That’s filling up a stat sheet.
- Trevor Cooney scored 12 points, including 3 three pointers and 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. We have a lot of good players. We just have to get them all going at the same time.
10-6 (0-3) with 15+ to go…and only 7 more wins needed to guarantee our 46th consecutive winning season!
