- We’re 4-0 and averaging 49.5 points per game. What’s not to like?

- The last time we were 4-0, I was about to turn 38. Now I’m about to turn 65. So it’s a big deal. We just don’t do 4-0 here. Something always goes wrong. It almost did at western Michigan but otherwise we’ve basically been in control all the way.

- We rolled to 636 yards, 26 first downs and 51 points, the third time we’ve reached the 50 point mark in three games. Through Dino’s first two years, I wondered where the big scores were that the teams he’s been associated with were. Now they’re here.

- I take back everything I’ve said about Sean riley. He’s always seemed to me to be a little guy who might be better off playing at another level: he could juke some people but he didn’t seem to have real break-away speed and tended to go down as soon as he was hit. Not anymore. He’s smart, sees the whole field, can make people miss, keeps his feet moving and can out-run at least Connecticut’s players as he did twice today to seal the deal. He’s also our best kick blocker. Adam Terry said that Dino has had Antwan Cordy returning punts because Riley has become our best punt blocker and he preferred him on the line. Cordy had some kind of wrap on due to a minor injury so Babers put Riley back and he came up with a huge game: 11 touches for 290 yards and 2 scores. Without Sean, this would have bene a very nervous and unimpressive game.

- Another guy I’ve had to re-access is Moe Neal. I’ve always felt he was too slim to be a feature runner. He belonged on the outside or in the slot as a receiver. But he’s built himself into a powerful running back and he keeps his feet moving. He didn’t score, (or did he?) but had 116 yards in 13 carries.

- Eric Dungey was sharp, completing 21 of 27 passes for 286 yards and 2 scores while running for 77 yards and 3 scores on 16 carries. He had to be in there much longer than planned because we couldn’t put this game out of reach until Riley took over.

- We did show more explosion on offense than in past games, although you couldn’t tell it from the scoring summary. We had runs of 52 and 51 yards and a 49 yard pass play. We could have had another except that Jamal Custis doesn’t seem to be able to make over-the-shoulder catches. Four scores were from 7 yards out or less.

- Our defensive line again dominated, recording 6 sacks, 10 tackles for a loss and 3 hurries, (at least). It’s a good thing that Hutchings Psychiatric Center is near bye. The opposing quarterbacks can meet there for a combined counseling session where they describe their fears about #57, #55, #98 and #95. The battle of the defensive lines next week should really be something.

- Sterling Hofrichter averaged 47.2 yards per punt and only two of his 10 kickoffs were returned for a combined total of 28 yards. Andre Szmyt returned to perfect with 7 extra points and 3 field goals. He’s not 24/24 on extra points and 10 of 11 on field goals. Those two guys will become more and more important as the opposition gets better.

- Our field positon dominance continued. Our average starting point, (not counting Riley’s punt return for a score), was our 33: theirs was their 21. They had a total of 193 more yards to go than we did.

- They finally got the stats on the scoreboard making sense.

- I love beating Randy Edsall, who enjoyed rubbing it in when he had better teams at UCONN than we had at Syracuse, (remember the last second TD bomb in the 2009 game vs. Doug Marrone’s first team?)

- There were some things I didn’t like about this game but I don’t think any of them will matter next week. Playing efficiently when you get a quick 21-0 lead over a team you are expected to blow out is a completely different situation than going on a mission to again beat the #2 team in the country.

- 4-0 Syracuse vs. 4-0 Clemson and the whole country will be watching.

4-0 with 8+ to go.

LET’S GO ORANGE!!!

Special teams were fantastic, blocking, snapping/holding, reads/decisions, kicks, lanes, runs and tackling.

WR's overall solid. RB's did their thing and had an excellent average per carry . ED no turnovers. Cisco taking advantage of being at the right place at the right time and once again hanging onto the ball. Horan looking like a giant and making a TD grab on his first play, how cool is that? Good win in a game they could have been elsewhere mentally and took care of business. The DL looked great and the OL opened holes for the RB's which is and will be needed.

4 and 0!

"Now, tell me all about how the Bad Man hurt you... " :p

Another good thing is that Babers went to multiple WR's inside the 5!
