- This was a game where most of the upsides have downsides attached to them. One that does not is that the team kept hitting hard and playing hard for 60 minutes, even though the game had long been lost and even though they were tired. Even little Sean Riley bowled over one of the Noles on a kick return. There will be a lot of orange-colored bruises on Florida State bodies when those guys wake up in the morning.
- Brisley Estime had punt returns of 42 and 22 yards and Riley had a 36 yard kick-off return.
- We forced four turnovers, although we failed to take advantage of three of them for scores.
- We had 2 sacks and 4 other tackles for a loss. We got them largely through blizi8tng, which opened us up for wide-open completions that helped produce 33 first downs for the Noles.
- Sterling Hofrichter had another amazing day punting, averaging 44.4 and helping hold State to -1 yards in punt returns with the height and distance of his kicks. But Matt Park noted, “If you’re talking about how good your punter was, it means you lost the game.”
- I liked the uniforms. Nobody had to ask “Why are they called ‘The Orange’?”. But I must say that seeing Florida State in their traditional road uniforms and us in this week’s concoction, they seemed to be a team that knew who they were and we seemed to be a team that is trying to find that out. But maybe that’s appropriate, because that’s what we are.
