- We lost but were you not entertained? 30-33, won on a last second field goal. Great plays, strange decisions, bad calls. The game had it all. Too bad it was also lost on that last second field goal.
- Garrett Shrader solidified his grip on the quarterback position. Midway through the second quarter, people in the chat room and the game thread were ready to bring DeVito or even Jacobian Morgan in but that needed when Garret broke that 55 yarder. He never let up after that, even showing that he could get a passing game going. He still needs to show he can hit the long ones. Also, if we fall way behind, I’m not sure Garrett is the guy we want in there. We’ll see what Dino thinks. I think we should all stipulate that everyone here wants all our players to succeed. We want to win a lot more than we want to be ‘right’.
- Sean Tucker didn’t score but, faced with a defense determined to shut him down, ran for 102 tough yards on 24 carries. He’s already gained 638, more than he did last season. He’s on a pace for 1,531 yards – if he holds up under the punishment.
- Hopefully the more balanced approach that evolved during this game will be the way we come out playing in the remainder of our games. That will take the pressure off Sean and really open things up for him.
- Trebor Pena got the memo that we needed return yards to supplement this offense and returned 4 kickoffs of 199 yards, (29.8) and 2 punts for 5 yards. He’s going to break one. I hope it comes at the right time.
- Despite some lapses, especially in containing Travis’ scrambles, the defense played well again. They kept us in the game and presented our offense with some golden opportunities and they will continue to do that.
- We’re still 3-2. If we can win 3 of our last 7 games, we can get to a bowl game, which is what we needed to do in the wake of 2019’s frustrations and last year’s disaster.
3-2 with 7+ to go
LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
