[QUOTE="SWC75, post: 1701591, member: 289"] - Sometimes , during the ups and downs of the season, you wonder if it’s all worthwhile. Moments like this answer that question. - The zone opened its mouth and totally swallowed up two teams, one of whom had beaten us two years ago and the other of whom had just beaten Michigan State. They legend lives on! - Can you imagine what Tyler Lydon will be in another year or two? (Can you imagine where he’ll be?) MTS couldn’t guard him and they couldn’t get past him. 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 blocks off the bench. Is there a stat for “bench blocking”? - DaJuan Coleman had one of his What first halves but he looked in the second half like he did in Pitt 3. Is this a preview of next year? He wound up with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in only 16 minutes. - After being contained by Dayton, the G Man was on the prowl today, coming up big 23 points on 10 of 14 shooting. - Tyler Roberson was bossy again, with 12 points, 9 rebounds and even three assists, despite missing time in the first half due to 2 fouls and in the second half due to his head losing a battle with the floor. He played only 28 minutes but each of those minutes mattered. - Trevor Cooney showed Mr. Potts he was not the only guy who can shoot, hitting 4 three pointers, including 3 early ones to his three and thus out-scoring him 12-9 in a battle of guys who have no two point game. He, of course, was the primary one guarding him and held him to only 8 shot attempts. Potts would have had to make all 8 to get his team back in the game. - I’ll be any game in which Frank Howard makes a jump shot, we’ll win. Not that it’s a good strategy but if it happens, it must be our day. - We faced a challenge after losing a 12 point lead and responded in force, closing the game with a 35-11 run. We blew this game open just a bit past the time we blew the Dayton game open. Early in the second half is a great time to put the pedal to the metal. - The 2013 run was keyed by an almost fanatical defense and that’s what we are playing now. - The ACC is 11-1 in this tournament and set a record by getting 6 teams into the Sweet 16. The one loser was the team you'd most want it to be. :D - John Wooden’s first ten Final Four teams only had to win two games to get there and considering the state of college basketball back then compared to now and the fact that the regionals were truly region, the opposition he faced probably wasn’t any better than what we just faced. So these days, if you make the Sweet 16, it’s the equivalent of making the Final Four back then and we just did it. - Despite the memories of the Richmond and Vermont debacles, Syracuse has a good record on the first weekend, going 34-12, (.739: JB’s all-time winning percentage is .740). This time around they crushed both teams by 19 and 25 points, respectively, a total of 44 points. That equals what they did in 1996, when they beat Montana State by 33 and Drexel by 11 and I one short of what the 2010 team did when they beat Vermont by 23 and our next opponent, Gonzaga, by 22 and 9 points short of what we did in 2013 when we beat Montana by 47, (we play well against that state) and California by 6. That’s two final four teams and maybe the best team we’ve ever had. - Maybe we didn’t deserve to be in the tournament. But we deserve to be in the Sweet 16. 21-13 with 1+ to go… LET’S GO ORANGE!
