- I feel like we lost a game and then won the next one, all in the same night! - We finally won a road game, and road wins in the ACC are made of gold. - We still have a pulse regarding the NCAA and continuation of the winning seasons streak seems likely now. - We’ve won 3 in a row and the nature of these wins it the sort of thing that pulls a team together, especially beating a nationally ranked team and then making a major comeback on the road. This team should be pretty well welded together emotionally right now. - SU 40 point games: Ed Miller 40 on 12/1/51; Frank Reddout 40 on 2/24/53; Pete Chudy 41 on 1/20/61; Dave Bing 45 on 2/16/65; Dave 43 on 12/4/65; Dave Bing 46 on 12/28/65; Bill Smith 41 on 12/7/68; Bill Smith 47 on 1/14/71; Gene 40 on 12/4/83; Gerry McNamara 43 on 3/18/04 and John Gillon 43 on 2/1/17. (Credit to orangehoops.org). We’ll be talking about John Gillon’s performance in this game for years to come. I have him with 46 net points. With the 13 in a row to end the Florida State game, he’s scored 56 points in the last 47 minutes, (he did get a minute of res tin this game). - One of the many things I like about his game is that his decision-making seemed more instinctive in this game. Until the least 3 minutes vs. Florida State I felt he was always worried about what the coach wanted and didn’t want. Should he go to the basket or should he pass off or should he toss up one of those awkward floaters. I saw no awkward floater sin this game. He was decisive and right in just about everything he did. A couple of times his teammates weren’t ready for passes, (that’s his 4 turnovers) but I think that was on them. This guy “gets it” and we need to grab onto his tail and he’ll take us where we want to go. And if we can just come down the stretch with a lead, game over. - Our grad transfers had 71 of our 100 points. Andrew White had 28 points as well as 4 more steals. That’s becoming a bigger part of his game. I have him with 21 net points. - Tyler Lydon as usual, didn’t get the ball enough, (although the guys who had it were doing pretty good), but had a solid game with 15 points and 7 rebounds. He never got to the line, which is strange for a scoring center. - We continue to be lights out at the line, much of it due to “the closer”, Gillon. The team was 21 of 23 and he was 14 for 14. He’s 27 for 28 in the last two games. 14-9 (6-4) with 8+ to go LET’S GO ORANGE!
