- This game looked like a 0-30 game through most of it but we rallied to have a chance to win a 10-16 game at the end. It was a frustration but not an embarrassment.
- We did that because a dogged defensive effort that just refused to let NC State pull away. We held them to three field goals and a touchdown on a trick play. Kendall Coleman spent all night in the Wolfpack backfield and Alton Robinson had a good game as well. Andrew Armstrong got the only takeaway in the game with an interception, extending our streak of games getting a turnover to 20, second in the Nation, (Mississippi State has 21). They could have tired as the game went along as we’ve seen so many times over the years when we had weak offenses but this group actually got stronger as the game went along.
- While I discredit the SU offensive coordinators for the inept and unimaginative offense that we started out with, I have to credit them with making adjustments, allowing Tommy DeVito to get a rhythm going so he wound up with spectacular numbers, (29 for 39 for 300 yards 1TD 0 int), in what really wasn’t a spectacular performance. We out-gained State in the second half 192-148 after being out-gained 117-210 in the first half.
- We lost what turned out to be a close game to go 3-3. The remaining six games aren’t against world beaters. Anything can happen. Let’s just find a way to get to a bowl game.
3-3 and 6+ to do
LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
