- The defense was a revelation until the fourth quarter when the effort seemed to collapse, probably because they were on the field too much. They were very aggressive, especially up front and made some big plays. We were +3 in turnovers had this game 6-7 midway thought the third quarter. The tackling was very good to that point. The players like this 3-3-5 set up and I think we will, too.
- Kingsley Jonathan seemed to spend as much time in the tar Heels backfield as Sam Howell did.
- Andre Cisco looked like Willie Mays on his interception. When he picks it off, you don’t need to look for the number or the name. You know who caught that one.
- Steve Linton may have lost his starting spot on the depth chart but his name got mentioned an awful lot today and I expect to hear it an awful lot more.
- Garret Williams and Neil Nunn looked good. We have a lot of young players who are getting better.
- Nykeim Johnson was very lively and looked great on that 81 yard punt return which was turned into a 26 yarder by a penalty. Those that said that we really didn’t see the real Nykeim due to injuries last year appear to be correct.
- I like Anthony Queeley a lot. He wasn’t getting the defensive attention that Taj Harris got but AQ had no drops and seemed to get the most out of every play.
- Tommy DeVito’s throws in the first half seemed to be on target and he could have a big game if he receivers helped him out more.
- Chris Elmore got blown up on the first play, a run, but pancaked somebody on the third down pass play. After that he was no worse or better than the more experienced players in the rest of the line. He is the legitimate starter for now, instead of some kind of a smoke screen.
- Aaron Bolinsky, our snapper, was the guy who recovered the muffed punt. That’s hustle.
- We played a college football game. That’s an upset.
