- We scored 70 points, the most Tennessee has given up this year and 15 more than their average on the road without our leading scorer. We shot 49.1% from the field, 64.7% inside the arc.

- It’s always interesting to see what freshman are ready to contribute at a high level when they first show up. Elijah Moore was a 4 star. Donnie Freeman is a 5 star, but right now Elijah is the better player. After 19 point against Cornell, Moore had 24 points against the best defensive team in the country. I think he will fully replace JJ Starling at th 2 guard spot. When JJ comes back, I’m hoping that Chance Westry will be our point guard and Choppa will be an alternative to Chris Bell at the 3 spot. I could also see Donnie growing into the center position with Jyare Davis at power forward. We could wind up being a very different team. We need to be.

- Davis had 9 points and 5 rebounds in 19 minutes. I’d like to see him get more that 19 minutes.

4-3 and 24+ to go

LET’S GO ORANGE!

Net Points

This year I’m going to make things a bit easier on myself and just list the net points in each game after the Upside. Once a month I’ll do a deeper dive into the numbers rather than doing a “Net Points, etc.” post after every game. ‘Net’ points are the positives (points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) minus the negatives, (missed field goals and free throws, turnovers and fouls committed).

Elijah Moore game: 24NP in 30 minutes season: 55NP in 118 minutes = 18.6NP/40m
Jyare Davis game: 12NP in 19 minutes season: 82NP in 150 minutes = 21.9NP/40m
Chris Bell game: 10NP in 22 minutes season: 61NP in 211 minutes = 11.6NP/40m
Donnie Freeman game: 6NP in 22 minutes season: 95NP in 178 minutes = 22.5NP/40m
Eddie Lampkin game: 4NP in 23 minutes season: 83NP in 186 minutes = 17.8NP/40m
Jaquan Carlos game: 3NP in 37 minutes season: 15NP in 200 minutes = 3.0NP/40m
Kyle Cuffe game: 0NP in 5 minutes season: 2NP in 13 minutes = 6.15NP/40m
Naheem McCloud game: 0NP in 5 minutes season: 1NP in 9 minutes = 4.4NP/40m
Chance Westry game: 0NP in 3 minutes season: 0NP in 3 minutes = 0.0NP/40m
Lucas Taylor game: -1NP in 14 minutes season: 10NP in 78 minutes = 5.1NP/40m
Petar Majstorovic game: -8NP in 11 minutes season: 8NP in 56 minutes = 5.7NP/40m

JJ Starling game: 0NP in 0 minutes season: 82NP in 220 minutes = 14.9NP/40m

That has to be one of the lowest NP per 40 we've seen for a starter, no?

My records go back to 1980-81, when the Dome opened. The worst I have for a starter, (meaning a player, who at the end of the season, finished in the top 5 for minutes played) is:

Kaleb Joseph 27.3m 8.7p 3.2r 5.6a 1.3s 0.1b = 18.9+ 5.3mfg 0.8mft 3.4to 2.7pf = 12.2- =
6.7NP 2.6OE 4.1FG
