- I’m glad we could find a way to win at least one more regular season game through a rough finishing schedule. And any time we can beat North Carolina, it’s a good win.
- If we can beat Clemson, we finish the regular season 15-8, 9-7 in the ACC. That’s not in the NCAA tournament but that’s not out of it, either.
- The team gutted it out. Several players were grimacing throughout the second half but making plays: Kadary, Quincy, Buddy, etc. You’ve got to be proud of this team.
- This wasn’t Buddy Boeheim’s career high, (26: he had 29 vs. Notre Dame) but this was his finest name. He made big shots, even when well-defended. His drives to the basket are getting better. He had 0 turnovers in 39 minutes. I wanted the ball in his hands. He looked good in the backcourt with Kadary.
- JB said he didn’t think yesterday that Quincy would be able to play in this game. Well he did and scored 18 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and even hit a couple of threes with a 2 assists a block and a steal before the pain just got to be too much.
- Kadari Richmond is fun to watch. Those long arms are an asset on both defense and offense. He’s got that ‘Gumby’ aspect that Hakim Warrick had. Hak could dunk from where you can’t dunk from there. Kad can lay it in from where you can’t lay it in from there. And his passing is reaching a Sherman Douglas level of creativity. I hope that limp he came off the court with will heal soon because we will need him to make the run we need.
- Marek’s stat line: 8 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks, 3 steals. I think he can score more than that, (he’s shown he can make a jump shot), but I’ll take it.
- Jesse Edwards continues to develop with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. He’s not a shot blocker yet but knows how to use his height to alter shots. He’s aware that the guy who gets lowest tends to get the loose balls. It’s strange to see the one guy on the court who is actually on the court, getting control of the ball be the tallest player on the court. It isn’t just what he does himself on the court: it’s that he allows everybody ese to play their natural position. Players play better when they are asked to do what they do well, not what they aren’t equipped to do well. There’s no longer a debate about whether he should play: there’s debate about whether he should have been playing before this.
- We won a game where we got out-rebounded by 20. If we can get anywhere near close on the boards, we’re good enough to beat you in the other aspects of the game.
14-8 (8-7) with ? to go
LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
