- Cole Swider had a career game and nearly carried us to a spectacular victory. He scored 36 points. His previous high here was 21, (he’d had 26 points game at Villanova – vs. Middle Tennessee State). He was 7 for 10 on two pointers 7 for 11 on three pointers and, strangely 1 for 2 from the line. When people think of tall guys being red-hot for SU, they think of James Southerland against Arkansas 11/30/12: he had 35 points. Stay Cole, Stay! - Buddy Boeheim got 14 points against one of the best defenders in the country, leaky, (what a name for a defensive specialist!) Black. But he tied for the leading in rebounding with his bother Jimmy with 7he also had a rare block and a couple steals. - Jimmy came back from a horrible game against Duke and a bad first half in this game to score 10 points and grab those 7 rebounds. He also had 3 assists. - Joe Girard had 9 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. He hit only one three pointer but it tied the game shortly after halftime and he hit the shot that sent us into overtime. - Bourama Sidibe went down hard and was feeling his gimpy knee but managed to have another productive game with 8 points, 3 rebounds, a block and 2 steals in 23 minutes. He’s made his last 8 shots in a row. - Somebody called into the post-game show and complained that we just don’t’ have the talent to compete with the teams we are playing. This after an overtime game. We’ve lost ACC games by 5, 1, 3, 5, 20, 11, 12, 10, 25 and 9 points. The 20 and 25 are the Duke games. We’ve won ACC games by 3, 16, 13, 22, 7, 23, 9, 20 and 1 point. Even with the Duke games and one more loss than wins, we’ve outscored our ACC brethren by 16 points. That defines mediocrity but we are certainly competing with the teams we are playing. 15-15 with 1+ to go. LET’S GO ORANGE!
