- Shrader to Alford will go down in history with McNabb to Brominski as miracle finishes by SU against Virginia Tech. But this one was really a miracle: It was a great throw by Shrader and a great catch by Alford but the kind of play that should be possible when you have a 6-4 quarterback throwing to a 6-6 215 receiver, something we may see a lot more of in the future.

- Shrader and Tucker are a great 1-2 punch but I think we can add Alford, Jackson and Pena to make a group that will be hard to defend.

- Shrader had 22 carries for 174 yards and 3 touchdowns and passed for 236 yards and 2 more scores. That’s 410 yards total offense, (of our total of 550). He was 16 for 34 passes but had no turnovers. I was afraid he’d been a Troy Nunes type who played out of control and tried to do too much but it hasn’t been the case. And, unlike Tommy DeVito, he doesn’t give up on plays. Garrett will do everything he can to produce something on each play.

- You wouldn’t think Shrader is the guy you want in a two minute offense but he led the drive for the winning field goal vs. Liberty, which started with 3:35 left, led the drive for the game-typing touchdown vs. Wake Forest with 2:17 left led a drive against Clemson with 4:30 left that produced the tying field goal attempt and today he led touchdown drives with 5:25 left and 58 seconds left to win the game.

- Tucker carried 20 times for 112 yards and a score, making him our first 1,000 yard rusher since Jerome Smith in 2012. He now has 1,060 yards on the season, which should make him the nation’s leading rusher when the day closes. He was behind Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker by 49 yards and ahead of Texas’s Bijan Robinson by 24 and Duke’s Mateo Durant by 78 but all of them had the week off. Brad Roberts of Air Force would have to gain 242 tonight against San Diego State to reach Sean.

- The winning catch was Alford’s only one but Courtney Jackson had 7 for 86 yards and a score. And made some tough yards, getting us some first downs.

- Trebor Pena had a 51 yard kick-off return to set up the penultimate score. He had the 64 yard reception and score that gave us a shot against Clemson last week. I see him becoming more and more of a factor as he matures.

- The defense had some significant lapses but they also got some big stops. They once again produced no turnovers but the 4th down stop with 4:34 left was the equivalent of one. It set up the score that gave us the lead at 27-26.

- Their house is our house!

4-4 with 4+ to go
