- I have to go to another sport to find a comparison to Buddy Boeheim. He reminds me of Dwight Freeney, who was held on every play but set school records with 17.5 sacks, 25.5 tackles for a loss and 8 forced fumbles in leading an otherwise mediocre team to a 10-3 record. Buddy is constantly double-teamed and fouled. They call almost nothing but he fights through it. Tonight he had 27 points 4 rebounds and 5 assists. His Dad keeps saying that you have to play on through the rough stuff and the bad calls: the ‘uncontrollables’. I suppose it’s a good life lesson. But beyond that, Buddy gets going when the rest of the team hits a rut and things are going against us. We were down 15-25 in the first half and Buddy hit a jumper, two free throws and a trey and it was 22-27. He hit four straight free throws to get us to withing 28-31. After taking a 35-33 lead, we fell behind 35-39 and Buddy hit a three. He has assists to Jesse Edwards and his bother Jimmy to get us into our last lead at 47-45. The Whoos scored 7 straight and Buddy answered with a three. Anther assist from Buddy to Jimmy tied it up again at 52. We were down 59-65 and Buddy hit another three. Down 62-68 he hit a couple of frees and then a trey down 66-72 to give us a chance. The heroics ended at that point but Buddy was the best player on the floor and nothing he did was easy.

- Jimmy Boeheim will dream of those missed free throws but he had a heck of a game himself with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals. He also had the dunk of the game. He gave no quarter and received none.

- Jesse Edwards made two fantastic moves for big buckets, one a drive from the corner to about 6 feet from the basket where, in one motion, he jumped, squared himself and flipped in the typing basket in the last second of the first half. In the second half another dramatic, aggressive move produced a lay-up that got us to within 44-45 and set up Jimmy’s dunk for the lead. He had his defensive lapses but he also had 5 blocks.

- Symir Torrence had his best game, playing 10 minutes but scoring 2 points, dealing 2 assists, grabbing a rebound and making a steal. He had no negatives. 6np in 10 minutes. Joe had 2 in 30 minutes.

- Benny Williams had his best game, playing aggressively for 12 minutes. He missed two shots but made two free throws, (he came in hitting 1 of 5), and grabbing 4 rebounds.

- At one point we were down 5-12 on the boards. We wound up 37-34. That’s 32-22 against a tough physical team.

- As Buddy said, scoring 69 points on Virginia is pretty good. 75 would have been even better.

7-6 with 18+ to go.
