- This was not a game we were going to win and it was not a game that mattered. Scott Shafer’s first team absorbed several beating like this and still wound up 7-6 with a bowl win and Dino Baber’s first team can, too.
- Babers said after the game that Dabo Sweeney is in his seventh year at Clemson. He’s had time to build up all this talent. Dino said that he hopes to have as much talent in his seventh year “but hopefully it won’t take that long”.
- At least we won’t have to hear about how we’re about to lose Dino to some other school for a while.
- We did have some plays that went our way, despite the final score. Clemson has led the country in tackles for a loss each of the last four years. They had 7 of them today. But we had 6Parris Bennett and Zaire Franklin had 2 of them and 30 tackles overall between them. And we knocked Watson out of the game, too, (not that I’m rooting for injuries but we gave as good as we got in that comparison).
- We didn’t get the ball to him in ideal circumstances but Amba Etta Tawo, (whose father played for Clemson), put together a productive day anyway with 9 catches for 84 yards, giving him the SU season records for catches with 75 and yards with 1,158, breaking records held by Alec Lemon and Marvin Harrison. And that’s with three games to go.
- We finally got some kick-off returns that amounted to something. Brisley Estime had a 39 yarder and Sean Riley had a 68 yarder. Maybe they can do it again in a game where it will matter.
4-5 with 3+ to go
LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
