- 30-1.….30 and 1! That’s the best total regular season record in Big East history. The 17-1 conference record ties the record of the 1995-96 Connecticut team. Who could have dreamed this?

- DEFENSE…DEFNSE….DEFENSE! Down 9-15 at the 11:46 mark we held Louisville- LOUISVILLE- without a field goal for 8 minutes and 10 seconds, going on a 17-1 run that gave us control of the game, which we never relinquished. In two games, the Cardinals, who had caused us such heartache in recent years, scored a total of 100 points while shooting 38 for 111, (.342) from the field, including 7 for 42 from three, (.167) on us. “You’ll see us in your dreams” department: 6-10 Gorgui Deng is 5 for 22 in those two games. The “Smith Brothers”, (although I don’t think Russ and Chris are related) are 9 for 38. And our old pal Kyle Kuric is 4 for 17, including 2 for 13 from the three point line.

- This team is a better team when Brandon Triche is playing well and this is the first really good game he’s had since West Virginia, 8 games ago. He had 18 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. 13 of his points came in the second half. He sat us down in only 8 seconds with a three, then followed his own failed alley-oop, then hit another three to turn a 26-19 game into a 34-19 game. Louisville never got within 9 after that.

- James Southerland had his best game since early in the year, scoring 7 points, 4 rebounds and blocking 3 shots in 20 minutes of play. I think JB realized that we are a different team with Brandon and James contributing and he purposely gave them more time to get going in this game and they came through for them.

- Dion Waiters also had his best game in some time, looking like the Dion that had wowed everybody earlier in the year, scoring 13 points, including a spectacular move that sent Peyton Siva to Nedrow while he laid the ball in. He also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

- Fab Melo had 4 big blocks, 8 rebounds and closed the home season by drawing one more charge.

- Both the seniors have played better but Kris Joseph had a couple of big threes, scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, stole the ball twice and had two assists.

30-1 and 9 to be done….. Impossible is nothing!!!!

LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
