- We lost to an undefeated Big Ten team on the road. That’s not hard to do. “Yeah, but Minnesota stinks!” Do they? They are an unspectacular team but they played solid ball and that defensive line looked good to me. The three teams we've lost to are 11-1.

- We may finally have seen the end of Lou Alexander in the starting line-up. Lou tries but he’s the sort of offensive lineman we had during the G-Rob era: he’s big but he does everything in slow motion. He's at 33 1/3RPM while everybody else is at 45. From here on it will be Pugh and Hickey at tackle and that is going to make a huge difference for us.

- I thought Keon Lyn had a nice game. When Brandon Reddish comes back I hope to see more of them as a tandem and less of Ri’Sard Anderson.

- The kick coverage, both on punts and kick-offs was very good. We didn’t get anything on kick returns but neither did they.

- Alec Lemon had a bad early drop but wound up with 9 receptions for 106 yards. He’s now our all-time receiver. He’s back.

- Jarrod West is getting better with each game. He not only makes catches but he gets YAC- yards after catch. We don’t get much of that and it’s appreciated when we do.

- I think that was our worst game of the year. (I hope so). And we could have won it. The four turnovers and the 10 penalties prevented our offense from getting any kind of rhythm or wearing down the other team with the pace. We still out-gained them 350-337 and if we’d gotten those 6 inches it would have been an overtime game. I still think this team has some victories in them. I just hope there are 5 of them.

- Schwartzwalder: 4-5, 5-5, 5-4, 7-3, 5-3-1, 4-4, 5-3, 7-2, 5-3-1, 8-2, 11-0.
MacPherson: 4-6-1-, 2-9, 6-5, 6-5, 7-5, 5-6, 11-0.
There were a lot of Saturdays like yesterday and a lot of Sundays like today. Don’t give up the ship.

Good points.
An SU team will always have several penalties and a couple of turnovers -- shouldn't be 4 turnovers, but we have to be good enough to overcome, even when we aren't perfect. With better OL play, we cut back on sacks and hurries and convert that 1st and goal. To me OL play makes the difference between winning and losing that game. So Pugh's return is the big hope -- it gives us a chance to win those 5 games.

You're one of my heroes...when you lose hope I'll know it's time to abandon ship. Thanks for all your efforts...

Sometimes it's hard to see the positive side of things but it's worth the effort.

No matter how bad things go for Syracuse we can always count on an upside post from SWC. I only wish your fall posts would be as easy for you to do as the ones during the hoops season.

Go Cuse!

I love college football. I love Syracuse. I wish i could love it every time Syracuse plays college football. But sometimes it's hard to watch. :(

That's what makes your dedication to doing this something I always look forward to reading. I know that you will step back and take your time before writing a recap of our most dreary preformances and you'll bring an informative perspective to your postgame breakdown.

It ain't easy watching Syracuse football at times but I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing in the fall.

Go Cuse!

Nice post. I seriously think it's time for SU to downgrade their OOC schedule. Nobody, well almost no one plays 11 AQ teams in a season and we are not nearly good enough to do this, not now and really not ever. Look at 98, we lose to Tennessee, beat Michigan and lose to NCState, why are we doing this? The fans are not going to show up and all we can hope for is a 90% full Dome when things are going great. Alabama plays Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic and Western Carolina OOC. Why is SU doing this to themselves? It is not working.

I'm feeling really discouraged. The MN loss was heartbreaking. Sloppy play all night. I hadn't felt that bad about SU football since Gerg. Thanks for looking on the bright side. I can't speak for the team, but I know that I need this bye week as a fan.

The upside is we can't embarrass ourselves on the field during a bye week.

Actually, I really wish other teams would schedule like we do. I think non-FBS teams should not count toward bowl eligibility at all, not just if there is two of them. And I'd get rid of the BCS designation. If you are going to be in the top division, you should have another barrier in front of you. Bowl games should be handed out on merit within the Division, not based on contracts to take the 6th best team from a BCS conference rather than the second best team from an non-BCS conference. And, if you are going to play a team from a lower level, it should at least be an area team, like Stony Brook. I hate games like Oklahoma State- Savannah State and Oregon-Arkansas State.

As long as they have the polls deciding who gets the best bowls, Big conferences will schedule cupcakes. We need to schedule Colgate, Cornell every year if others do the same. At least that way we will get a turnout from their fans.
