- Those people who though maybe this was it- the game where we put it all together like last year’s West Virginia game, were right. We played a great first half to take control of the game, punched one in to begin the second half to send the message that we were still in control and never let them back into the game. The big key to preventing comebacks is to answer the other team with a score when they score and we did.

- This shows what this team is capable of when we don’t make too many mistakes. We had a few more offsides penalties than I’d like to see but that was it. Actually, we have been “positive” in turnovers for four games in a row, suffering two while taking the ball away 8 times in that stretch.

- The special teams battle was won by Syracuse for a change. Jeremiah Kobena got trapped at his own 6 yard line on one kick return but Louisville had a similar play. Kobena had a beautiful return to the 45 yard line. Ross Krautman made all his kicks. Jonathan Fisher averaged 47 yards a punt. Richie Desir averaged 12 yards on his returns. We blocked an extra point and, most importantly of all, we actually had a ball bounce our way as Llewellyn Coker looked down and found a muffed punt return in his hands.

- Ryan Nassib was masterful, completing 15 of 23 for 246 yards and 3TDs with no interceptions. We were 14 of 19 on third down conversions and 1 for 1 on fourth down.

- Even more impressive were the plays outside the red zone, a 37 yard pass to Alec Lemon, a 55 romp down the sideline by Prince-Tyson Gully and a 37 yard burst by Jerome Smith. We didn’t have to have 10-12 play, mistake free drives to score in this one.

- Jerome Smith continued “running downhill” but he also showed something we hadn’t seen before: the ability to get to the corner and make the cut that can produce the big play. He wound up with 144 yards on 18 carries, (8 Yards a pop!), his fourth straight game with over 100 yards.

- Prince-Tyson Gully added 98 yards on 15 carries, (6.5) and two scores. We out-rushed the Cardinals 278-48, a huge key to the win. Remember when those big, bad Lousi8vbille linemen would dominate the line of scrimmage against us?

- Alec Lemon had another monster game. Who says we only go to him when we are losing? He had 9 catches for 166 yards and two scores, one on a pretty move to the inside of a defender in front of the goal line. Alec was the target for many of those third down conversions. Most of his catches were over the middle, which is right in Nassib’s wheelhouse. It’s what he’s best at. They said after the game they went to Lemon because Louisville always plays man for man and Marrone knew his man could win that battle consistently.

- We finally got a big interception as Dyshawn Davis grabbed the clincher. These last two seasons could have been very different if we’d held onto every interception. Today, we did.
- If we should lose again, I don’t want to hear anybody say we lost because we don’t have any talent. Get real.

- We won’t play anybody the rest of the season, (even in a bowl game who is as good as the team we just blew out.

5-5 and a strive for two more.

LET’S GO ORANGE!!!
