- This team may be a work in progress but that’s a scary thought to our opponents as we‘ve won our seven games by 13, 31, 20, 36, 9 , 36 and 31 points. Imagine what we‘ll be like when we are good. Long beach state beat Pitt last year and is the pre-season favorite in the Big West Conference. It didn’t matter.

- We finally made some threes in this one. Coming in we were 33 for 112 (.295). Tonight we were 10 for 28, including 7 for 15 in the first half. We got a little too dependent on that for a while, especially Michael Carter-Williams who can hit the three, (he had three in this game, his second third and fourth of the year), but it’s not really his game. JB pulled MCW over in the second half and told him to run the offense and he did, winding up with another double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.

- CJ Fair, like Kris Joseph before him, shined as a 3-4 option guy who found the cracks in the defense but struggled trying to become a “star”. He worked on his three point shot and driving to the basket to score but , after an early out-burst in the opener vs. San Diego State, the faded. Tonight he went back to his old game- being where the ball is, making medium and shot range jumpers. He wound up with 16 points and 13 rebounds in only 21 minutes of play.

- During a time out, JB told Rakeem Christmas “Do Something!”, according to Matt Park. The WAER guys said it was ”Do something to make me proud”. Whatever Mr. Christmas responded with three dunks in the last four minutes of the half. Tis the season for him to begin displaying the talent that made him the #1 big man coming out of high school according to one recruiting expert two years ago. The expert was wrong: that was clearly Anthony Davis, but Rakeem is long and athletic and he is certainly capable of “doing something”.

- Trevor Cooney made three 3 pointers and a couple more dunks. He’s out of his funk and will be a weapon for us the rest of the year.

- Brandon Triche was solid with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. We expect that from him but it needs saying anyway.

- Jerami Grant continued to do his family proud, flying around the court, throwing in dunks and a three pointer and grabbing 5 rebounds. He’s going to be great.

7-0 and here we go!

LET’S GO ORANGE!!!

Hasn't been mentioned but was surprised that the announcers didn't do their homework and make the connection between Ennis of LBS and his brother's commitment to SU.

I don't think that is Tyler's brother. That kid is from California.
