- We pulled out a tough game against a good team that had beaten defending ACC champion Miami and plays fanatical man to man defense. This one had “LOSS” stamped all over it until we ripped off the label. These kinds of games do us more good than laughable blow-outs over over-matched teams- but let’s make sure we win them.

- Incredibly, we won it from the line. After going 12 for 28 in the last game and starting this one out 5 for 11, we were 13 for 16 down the stretch- a stretch where we missed 8 shots in a row in going without a field goal for 8 minutes even, until Jeremy Grant broke it up with a lay-up to tie the game at 50 with 1:29 left.

- Our defense wasn’t at the level the well-named Terriers played until the last few minutes but it was good enough to keep us in the game and give us a chance to win it at the end. During that 8 minute dry stretch we were out-scored 8-10. Then Grant tied it up and we ended the game on a 10-0 run.

- DaJuan Coleman prospered against a team determined to pressure the ball at the perimeter and take CJ Fair and Trevor Cooney out of the game. He drove the lane, (he’s a center who can put it on the floor- and have it come back to him – to score) and hit the boards to go 5 for 5 and, amazingly 4 for 4 from the line for 14 points in 18 minutes of play. JB pulled him out because he was letting them score too much at the other end but I don’t think we would have had that stretch with no field goals in the second half had he been in there.

- Trevor Cooney scored a big 12 points, (the equal of 20 in such a low scoring game) and could have had more if Tyler Ennis had passed him the ball on a fast break in the first half. He had nobody anywhere near him and a trey would have been a lay-up for Trevor. He was so bereft he kept slapping himself in the forehead while playing defense on the other end. He WANTS the ball. I’m not sure he did last year.

- Jerami Grant scored 13 and grabbed 8 rebounds but his biggest contribution was on defense. He was credited with only 1 block and 1 steal but he used his long arms and quickness to harass shooters and get the ball back for us throughout the 10-0 run that won the game.

- Baye Keita also should get some credit for some big rebounds, a couple of steals and two free throws, (his first attempts of the season), down the stretch.

4-0 with 27+ to go
