The Wednesday late tip VT game is gonna be tough

VTech has been on the wrong side of 3 near buzzer beaters in ACC play. They’re a good team and hard nosed. ASSUMING we beat BC (I know, I know) we’re going to have to earn it Wednesday. The late tip and lack of a decent crowd won’t help.

Take BC and VT, and there could be a pretty good crowd for Miami. Would be huge for keeping the ball rolling and heading into NCSU on the right foot.

That SMU/VT game last night was insane. Tech was inbounding the ball up 4 with 7 seconds left, and somehow managed to lose on a walk off half court shot.

If we beat BC, VT and Miami combined to me are basically the conference version of the Tennessee game wrapped into two games. Two games we must have hands down to make the tournament. From there you look at where we are going into NC State. To be safely in( at this point in time ) I think we need that one too. Come back home don’t slip up vs Notre Dame and sit at a nearly best case scenario. Had we beaten Clemson you could trade off the Miami or NC State game. Going into UNC sitting at 17-5 puts us in a house money situation. We would need 1-2 more Q1 wins and avoid any home losses if possible. 5-4 or maybe even 4-5( if the wins include 2 of UNC, UVA, Duke, Ville) to finish the year should be enough as a total record then.

Not saying it’s pertinent in that specific instance but nothing aggravates me more than when a team is up late in a game with a 2 or more point lead , has a guaranteed two points after breaking the press .. but then pulls the ball out to shave 2 more seconds off the clock. Guess what, you’re probably only 50/50 to hit both FT so now you shorted yourself at least 1 pt.

The only time when it makes sense is when you are only up 1 pt and there are mere seconds left. Then go ahead and waste time because going from a 1 pt lead to a 3 pt lead is much less valuable than running out the clock

I think it’s good VT has a game Saturday, same for us. Like you all said I really hate playing a team with an excuse to be extra pissed off on a sleepy Wednesday. See Iowa St game ha.

We’ll hopefully be tuned up after BC and then back at the dome and maybe VT is a little sleepy having to play up in CNY mid week after beating ND. It’s an important one for sure.
