I solved this during the Jets game and it is just so obvious since refs can't seem to make these very critical calls correctly. If the ball comes out call it a fumble and let the play continue, swallow the fricken whistle. That way if it wasn't a fumble you give the ball back to the offense where they were down, no harm no foul. I am getting so damn sick of seeing replay over turn a fumble that was ran back for a TD but the defense doesn't get the score because the ref screwed up. It happens too often. I really don't see a downside.

People have said this for over 5 years now, hell since instant replay was invented and refs continue to blow plays dead. It's unbelievably stupid.

They also need to put some sort of "unimpeded to the end zone" type of rule for situations like that where the defense OBVIOUSLY would have been scored.
