No coach in their right mind would promise any player anything about playing time. Whether its a transfer, returning player or incoming player no one is promised anything other than that they will be given every opportunity to play just like all their teammates.

Lets not get overly excited about either quarterback. Hunt was good but hitting wide open recievers doesnt make for great quarterbacking. either does not producing a first down on three series make for a bad quarterback. with that said I wouldn't be surprised if both QB's play the next game.

Yeah, James Arthur Boehiem never promised anyone a starter's spot....EVER. He just liked yanking Christmas 15 seconds after the opening tip of every single game in 2011/12.

To hell with playing time, coaches will promise an evening with their daughter if it means a certain player would commit to their program...

It's really hard not to think Hunt won the job outright. Same defense, same 1st team O teammates - completely different results. I agree on not getting to excited about Hunt due to competition - but he should get every opportunity unless he starts playing like Allen.

I EXPECT them both to play in the next game. And I believe they should. I just think Hunt has got to be #1, and Allen has to be getting reps as a change-up and to get him ready just in case something happens to Hunt.

"I am Coach Shafer and I swear that I never promised the Starting QB position to Drew Allen!"

I agree. Hunt needs to do it against a good opponent. For as good as he looked saturday he wasn't nearly as perfect as his stat line shows.

Huh? How so?

I'm less concerned with who the opponent was than most here. Yes, it was only Wagner, and Hunt piled his stats up against a weak foe. But it was only Wager for Allen too. And while Hunt got his TD drive against the reserves at Northwestern, Allen also played against Northwestern's reserves in his last drive, and got nowhere.

It's pretty obvious to me that Hunt is the QB who runs our team best. Note I did not say he is the best QB. Hunt is our best option at QB and I have no problem being 100% behind that whether its against Wagner or Tulane or Clemson.

the deep pass to west was under thrown, west made a good play on ball, it should have been over his shoulder and he would have been off to the endzone, on clarks td he didnt led him like you'd like. His passes for the most part were good, meaning the reciever could make the play. had coverage been more like what we saw in the first two games and most likely in the next 9 games, several of those passes could have ended up as ints.

dont get me wrong I was thrilled at how the game went. Terrell did what he had to do and what we as fans wanted to see.
