ESPN Sports Reporters discussed today's games and the only comment on Syracuse, (I didn't get the name of the guy who said it- it wasn't one of the regulars) was "They don't deserve to be there." . John Saunders asked "If they get to the Final Four will then then deserve it? The guy laughed and said "Maybe."

If we accept his statement as the premise, the next question would be: "Well, who does deserve to be there?" The possibilities are:

Dayton?

Michigan State?

Middle Tennessee State?

Seton Hall?

Fresno State?

Utah?

Gonzaga?

Monmouth?

If we beat Virginia, they'll say we benefitted from playing against a conference rival, even though that goes against JB's tournament philosophy and reasoning for using the zone.

"Easy tournament games" is the new "Every game's a home game."

The funny thing is, almost every one of those media experts thought Michigan State had a good shot at the national championship.

Before the tourney started I doubt that any of them thought we were in the cakewalk brackett.

If he was on the sports reporters you know he knows nothing about college ball beyond izzo = God of March.

So the answer is only mich st or probably everyone's favorite also ran gonzaga deserved to be there. But certainly not evil lucky Syracuse.

I mean, seedings are not an exact science, neither is who makes the tourney. The amount of talk devoted to this seems insane. If we had lost to UConn and A&M, fine, you got an argument I guess, but especially after how they ACC wrecked the tourney field, not sure how anyone can still even be making these claims. At this point the narrative should be, huh, maybe all of the ACC should have been in the field, and pretty much one, maybe two, PAC-12 teams.

That's a better question than maybe Syracuse didn't deserve it. We did. And even if you think we didn't, it's so close, that questioning it seems silly. Comparing us to UCLA last year is stupid too, UCLA lost every single big game against OOC teams they played and were throttled in many of them...no comparison at all.

No obvious bias by ESPN - yikes. Scary implications. Guess we aren't paranoid after all.

Who cares what some of these schleps say? If people moan, groan, and whine every time some attention seeking, conflict instigating, begging for relevance, TV prognosticator makes an antagonistic statement about Syracuse, then you play right into their hands. (and God only knows where their filthy little attention grabbing hands have been!)

At this point the notion that Syracuse doesn't belong or has had some cushy path to the elite 8 is utterly ridiculous and without any merit whatsoever. We are where we are because we have a well coached group of talented kids who have adopted the belief that what anyone thinks besides themselves is inconsequential and that any of the doubters and haters have only served to motivate them. (See Gbinije's comments)

For me, the bottom line is that Syracuse, and it's performance in the tournament has been "THE STORY" thus far in the tournament. What they have accomplished in light of the obstacles they have had to overcome is nothing short of amazing. Any schleps who feel compelled to in any way diminish what they have done must be pretty miserable people with negative outlooks on life and more than likely have small hands and smell like cabbage.

We will do our talking on the court... and win or lose we will have played with integrity, passion, while having given many of us a post season to remember for a lifetime.

Incredible how this narrative hasn't stopped since Selection Sunday. Sure, have the opinion when the brackets are announced. Now after three tournament games, it is time to drop that angle and start talking basketball rather than still screaming that this team doesn't belong. Factually incorrect.

It's the Elite 8, and Syracuse is there. Looks like the committee knew what they were doing.

Does anyone remember if UConn got this kind of treatment when they went on their improbable run? I agree that it's hard to accept Syracuse as a Cinderella but the level of bile we're getting from commentators and reporters is just puzzling. All I can think of is that the NCAA sanctions combined with the Bernie Fine stuff have turned Boeheim into the new Tark (minus the cuddliness) for folks around the country. And to be honest, I'd rather see him suck on a towel during games than fiddle with his nose.

I agree. Somehow, penetration on the screen seems less satisfying than oral.

I recall a quote from the Team Manager in the movie " Major League":

"Let's just stick around and give them all a big shi! burger to eat"

This hatred has been working so well for the team, that we're going to have stage televised Syracuse Orange seal hunts and whatnot on the Monday following the selection show every year.
