Just saw an ESPN report on the wives of SEC coaches. They showed Nick Saban's wedding picture and he looked like a teenager with hair to his neckline, (he was: he'd just turned 19). Looking at his Wikipedia page:

I'd forgotten that Nick was an assistant coach here under Frank Maloney for one season (1977).
Nick's coached games in Archbold Stadium. He knows who Bill Hurley is., He was there when we upset Bill James' first Washington Rose Bowl team. , lost that wild game to Penn State, 24-31, with the phantom holding call on the tying touchdown, Joe Paterno was not there: his son had been injured in a trampoline accident). That was back when Paterno was idolized for "doing things the right way". Nick was there for the four game winning streak that ended the season and got us a winning record at 6-5.
He was a defensive coach. I found one source that says he coached the defensive ends:

I don't have a yearbook or media guide from that year so I don't know which he coached. If he was a linebacker coach, he would have coached one of our best-ever linebackers, Jimmy Collins.

Steve Addazio, the current BC coach from 1995-98
Tom Coughlin, winner of two Super Bowls with the Giants, 1968 and 1975-80, (he was our offensive coordinator in the Hurley-Monk-Morris years and was on the staff with Saban)
Randy Edsall, current Maryland coach 1982-90
Forest Evashevski, who gave Iowa it's best teams in the 50's, 1946
Hugh "Duffy" Daughtery, (SU lists him as "Gaugherty"), who coached many of Michgian State's top teams in the 50's and 60's. He and Evashevski were on Biggie Munn's 1946 staff. (Per Wikipedia he was an assistant from 1940-46: I know he and Bud Wilkinson were on the same staff at one point.)
Dan Mullen, the Mississippi State coach, was a grad assistant here in 1998.
George O'Leary, the UCF coach, was with us from 1980-86
Ed Orgeron, last eyar's interim USC coach, was at SU from 1995-97
Jim Tressel, who won a national title at Ohio State, coached our running backs in 1981-82
Bud Wilkinson, legendary Oklahoma coach, was our line coach from 1938-41
And that's just the assistants. Our head coaches have included Hall-of-Famers Frank "Buck" O'neill, Howard Jones, TAD Jones, Clarence "Biggie" Munn, Ben Schwartzwalder and Dick MacPherson as well as Ossie Solem who probably should be in and Chick Meehan would probably would be in except for a financial scandal that occurred decades after his coaching career was over.
