our HS hardly ever punts. buts thats more a function of not being able to hold onto the ball for more than 3-4 plays in a row.

I remember them doing an episode about not punting on Freekonomics (which they referenced). They talked to some dIII coach, and an NFL coach. Naturally, the NFL coach was cool on the tactic.

It's not just about not punting, those onside kicks are a major morale buster for opponents.
