The NFL has done some "thinking outside the box" moving extra points to the 15 yard line so they will be more of a challenge.

We talk about the red zone all the time. It's the 20 yard line to the goal line. How about making that the line of scrimmage for extra points but making extra points count as much as field goals?

And let's make a rule that field goals cannot be attempted within the 20 yard line- again too easy. If get within the 20, you are committed to scoring a touchdown.

OK. Back in the box.

Or...how about eliminating extra points and making safeties worth 3 points. All scoring would be multiples of 3.

:vomit:

OK, back into the box...:bat:

if we keep changing the scoring rules we will be back to how they used to score it 100 years ago

I think that's the last time we changed them. Maybe it's time we reassessed the degree of difficulty of these events and how much credit they should receive. Kicking has improved so much over the year that a reassessment might be appropriate.

No reason to change the rules to the best, most popular, game in the United States.

Not a huge fan of the NFL changing the xp rules, but, honestly it's at least added a new element and worked out better than I anticipated.

I think they should move it back even more, 1 pt xp for 30 yds 2 pt xp for 40 yds 3 pt xp for 50 yds and do the same for FG. try to force teams to score tds and not just give in to fgs..

Why not just leave the rules alone.

The extension of the PAT in the NFL hasn't created any additional excitement - while trying to change the fundamental character of the extra point.

I personally don't want games decided by PATs.

The same goes for penalties and injuries, which more and more seem to dictate outcomes - especially in the NFL.

I love the game but it's getting more and more difficult to watch as officials control who wins and who loses in a violent game, based upon "touch" fouls that just seem utterly ridiculous at times.

take down the goal posts, get rid of place kicking and kickoffs, make safeties = a TD. then it won't matter whether it's 1, 3,6,7, or a billion points per TD.

Is it that popular because it's unchanging?
