Whether or not he knew anything, keeping your mouth shut in these situations is always the best. He looks like an idiot now, and frankly, rightfully so.

It was wayyyyy too early for him to be passing judgement on anyone, especially proclaiming Fine's innocence and the infamous "thousand lies" statement. I don't understand why anyone here ever disagreed with that.

Just because you are on the same coaching staff doesn't mean you know everything that goes on behind closed doors at someone's home.

This is a nightmare.

No its not. As soon as Schwarz admitted that the tape was not given to the University I think people will understand why he made the statements he made.

And if they don't ,who cares.I would have said the same thing if i didn't know my friend of 50 years had a 2nd perverted hidden life.

Most sane people anyway. Those with an agenda will forget the lies the accusers have been caught in. They did not need to do that and it would have helped their credibility.

Well that's easy to say given the situation that we're in. Clearly, you're not someone that would stand up for a friend you've known for 40 years when there hasn't been any evidence on board.

Frankly, I thought it was way more of a nightmare when Davis accused Boeheim of entering the hotel room and seeing him on the bed, in Bernie's room. :noidea: Because then, this had the potential to snowball into a cover up that could, would, and should take down the program.

JB's vehement insistence that this was false turned the tide of media coverage in this case. I don't think he was an idiot at all for making those comments.

And his contrition tonight, however formulaic, will undo some of the damage.

I would stick up for my friend. I WOULDN'T call people liars publically. What good does that do?

His choice of words could have been better. But Davis did initially implicate JB with his words (which he has since taken back).

Yeah, I agree with this. The liars comment was the killer, that and the cash grab. Stand behind your friend, no problem. But when you say something like these people are liars, you leave open the possibility of looking stupid down the line.

lang is a liar. either he lied in '05 or in '11. or does the truth not matter?

Well...Davis was lying and JB knew he was lying because he was stating something about JB that he KNEW to be a lie. A guess on my part is that when JB talked to Bernie about this Bernie told him the kid wanted money. This was obviously in JB's mind when he made his statement. He shouldn't have mentioned the money or go the "1,000's of lies" route. Would've been best if he'd just stated his support for his friend of 50 years and that he knew at least a portion of what was being said was untrue. He didn't, but what he did say was not so extreme that it should put his job in jeopardy. I expect JB to keep his job and to answer truthfully when he gets questions froma Cowherd or Rome type when he ends up on their shows in the future. I expect him to never speak to Greg Doyel ever under any cirmustance.

Does that mean that they're both liars? No. At this point, who the hell knows who is lying or being truthful.

Dont you know anything about psychology? He was allegedly abused so that means he can do whatever he wants.

Not to be a but that seems to be the prevailing thought by many here and while he very well could have been ashamed or mentally unstable due to the abuse, its a slippery slope to qualify anything done by an accuser as a result of his abuse.

Have the Fines and Davis take polygraphs.

Yup, this is my belief as well.

Heat of the moment? Being dragged into the situation by name? Dam right i would of went about it the same way Jim did.

Boeheim *knew* whether Davis was lying about one thing: whether Boeheim had seen Fine and Davis together in hotel rooms multiple times. A lot hinges on whether Boeheim really did see them together. If someone makes a public statement about you that you know is a lie, it's perfectly acceptable to call that person a liar.

And really, if he knew Davis was lying about such a thing, wouldn't it be reasonable for Boeheim to conclude that his whole accusation was a lie?

People here got juiced because JB stood up and went all 'fiery' like he did about the GMac "10 games" business. But, it was all the same as when a rock star drops the '-bomb' on stage, or takes a swig from a bottle of whisky- the audience raises their plastic cups and goes "Whooooooooooo!!!!" The same mentality.

I don't blame JB, at all, for defending his friend. I would hope any real friend would do that. Where JB went wrong was with the tone and content of his message. Too much ego led him to believe he knew more than he did.

Fair enough. You'd look like an asshat too.
