We need 2 portal guys that can block shots next season. A 5 and a long 3/4. Our best shot blocker is honestly Chris Bell, unfortunately. It didn’t show as much as it has in the past, today, but other than Carlos at pg, it’s our biggest problem.

The good news is that Sadiq White is a very good shotblocker from the forward position.

He also has quick feet and a motor that never stops. I’ve been impressed with White‘s ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. We don’t have a forward this year who can do that.

Donnie has 4 blocks on the season. I figured with his size and athleticism he’d have 4 in one game. Disappointed in his lack of defensive presence.
I knew he wasn't going to be a great shotblocker based on his high school record.

But, earlier this season, he seemed to be showing some aptitude for rotating over to help when other players were getting beaten off the dribble.

He definitely has the length and athletic ability to be better at blocking shots than he has shown so far.

Well, we do have McLeod. I would think he's good to play 5-10min a game. Depth was supposed to be our strength.

I'm still mystified that we can't turn this dude into someone that can play 5 minutes in some crazy scheme on a real bad team.

If he could play big minutes for a 7-13 (ACC) Florida State team than his resume def shows he's equipped to play some big minutes for us! He could be like Carlos, but a CENTER!

Toss us into a zone for 5 minutes. Press with him at the back. Foul him out in 5 minutes. Lemme see it!

He’s been notably horrendous in the few minutes he has played this year.

Didn’t we have this conversation 10 months ago?
Before Maliq bolted?

Have you watched him? He has been awful in his minutes. I’m not even sure he’s gotten his hands on the ball
I don't disagree. He's been awful this season. It's odd that he went from serviceable to unplayable... Not sure if it's an injury or lack of development or a combination.

I guess the foot surgery

Didn’t someone post an Instagram thing from him, where he was incredulous about not being considered preseason for an All-Defensive award? And now the former starter on a better team can’t even get into a game on a weaker team…. Poor thing.

In my decades-long hatred of the zone, I have still always thought the zone was a means of elevating the floor of a bad team, defensively. As in, zone keeps you in a game, and keeps you closer. This team would probably be better in zone, and people who postulate JB would win more games with this squad are probably right.

The problem is that zone also caps a program’s potential, and it’s only occasionally that a team plays it exceptionally. Very glad we are not chained to it anymore, but M2M requires a coach that can coach it well and assess/get players willing to play it.

As a Detroit Lions coach recently said, ‘the things we need to do don’t take talent.‘ In our situation, they require Understanding, Commitment, and Effort.

McLeod never started at FSU. He had one good game: it was against us.

I was disappointed to not see a single 2025 center on the recruiting thread and a short thread about a 2026 center. We really need two new centers for next year. Will the coaches going to the portal for both?
Based on Bulldog's posts, the portal is the plan for at least one center.
