Anyone who is trying to groom their kids into being SUFB fans - god bless your efforts! My kids middle school had an SU themed day today timed with the Pittsburgh game. My 10 year old is in that gray area where he wants to become like me and really get into SU football but every year something like this happens. It’s heartbreaking in that sense.

I was 7 years old in 1987. I graduated high school when McNabb routed Miami in the dome. My entire childhood coincided with the best era of SUFB. My goodness I was so lucky… or unlucky… because it turned me into a diehard and sentenced me to everything that passed in the last 25 years.

I hope Fran can do what the others couldn’t. But I worry.

My formative years were in the Maloney, early Mac days. It was bad. Until '87, I had the Independence Bowl win vs McNeese St, Nebraska '84, and the Cherry Bowl season...that's it.

Actually the time from 1955-1968 wasn't bad either. Brown, Davis, Mackey, Little, Nance, Czonka, a few outstanding NFL lineman in there. I've been lucky to have lived through both.

Growing up going to games starting around 1970 had to be the worst.Somehow I ended up loving Cuse football but those were some brutal early years.

Bout the same age, tho Im a little older. Had season tix since I was 11, even though we live 4 hrs away. Im the 11th family member to graduate from SU. My twin sons are 16 now, theyve been going to games since they were 6. Theyre die hards, we get up at 5am to tailgate for noon games.

That said, they have basically seen nothing but mediocre to trash fb their whole lives. I took them to camping world bowl in 18, thats literally the highlight of their SU fb lives. They are as die hard for hoops. At least they are two more SU fans I commiserate with after losses. Was pretty hostile in my house Thurs night to say the least lol. But yeah, loving SU sports with kids been rough for my own kids existence too!

My only kid is amost 6 months old. I dress him in SU outfits every gameday.

They say you should want better for your kids...but sucks to suck kid...I had to walk uphill both ways to the Dome during the GRob years.

My wife used to change my boys diapers on the metal benches in the Dome. Needless to say , they are diehards, and they have seen some awful football
