I think we should spare the conjecture and just look at what has happened to our BE brethren against C-USA squads like Houston and UCF and then look at this board when we have ACC teams going out and winning games this season and last against SEC foes.  If you can't see the difference then I don't know what to tell you.  I can say this ... last year we lost two games in conference we have already lost 4 with a chance for 5 this year ... the only game in conference where Nassib and Pugh would have changed the outcome is Pitt ...
