[QUOTE="DomeHolmes, post: 5222085, member: 10113"] This is very true. And now playing teams with better corners, the receivers are not running free. I think we did a good job finally making adjustments in the second half of VT. there is a reason defensive ends and cover corners are so coveted in the NFL draft. When you have two good cover corners on wideouts, you basically allow your other 9 defensive players to cover 4 skill guys in a shrunken field (mostly between the numbers). When you are playing zone, you have 11 players covering 6 skill guys, the whole width of the field. The cover corners allow for more defensive congestion in the middle of the field. Teams are able to have lots of help on Gadsden when they are playing our wideouts man to man. We adjusted somewhat with more bubble screens and horizontal passes (And power run game). It was good for 250 second half yards. It’s rarely easy for coaches to get away from the kind of offense that they want to run especially if they have seen success. (Dinos teams never seemed to adjust). I believe the key to the whole thing is to be able to run the ball the way we did last year, and if in fact, we are scrapping the RPO, (mostly) and that was the key to success Saturday , that opens everything else up.
