We ran 70% of the time last night. Based on the numerous posts and threads on running the ball this year, I would suspect many of you are happy that the focus was less on speed and more on focused run game.

Other than the 2 WR set inside the 10 in Q2 that led to TD throwing the ball out the back of the endzone, I thought the gameplan and calling was pretty good.

not sold on the air strategy but imposing our will on the ground early was beautiful

I think the staff thought we were much better than them going in, the first quarter or so confirmed those thoughts, and then we coooasssted and still put up 29 points on 7 drives.

Rutgers really doesn't have much to work with going into next week besides that Sean Tucker is the best player on the field.

So you go with what works. No problem with running the ball, imposing will. It's game 1 and I was glad to see a stronger run game and a move the chains short to mid passing game.

Pretty solid gameplan, utilize the running game and get out of there with few injuries. Would've liked to see Shrader in the red zone though

They didn’t force us to adjust. We all wanted to see how td could air it out but it woulda been goofy to switch away from the high % plays that we’re working out great for us. They never forced us to use plan b or plan c.

I’ll say that the first series was ultra precise. I’m sure it was scripted and rehearsed and we executed. That enabled the speed we saw there.

I would guess that Rutgers will fill the box to stop the run and force TD to throw. Should be a good game to get Taj in some 1 on 1 situations and get some play action opportunities downfield.

This game set up play action for next week very nicely. Lead with it. First play. Go for the home run!

It was fine. Three of the biggest consistent weaknesses were reversed, 3rd down, yds per carry, short yardage and close redzone.
