I’m still digesting the game today and will need to rewatch. Had a lot of emotions. I know the talent is there but we are just not seeing it. Since Devito took over last year, I have never felt we have had one single smooth touchdown drive. When Dungey would lead a drive. I always felt we would score. I just never feel that with Devito.

Now to my point, what is with these throws to the sideline that give Taj such a slim chance to make a catch. It hasn’t worked once. Taj makes a great play at the ball but has no where to land. We need to throw in the middle of the field. The slants work. The creativity works and then we go away from it.

I’m remaining optimistic but I still am waiting for that nice drive led by Tommy. The talent is there.

You may have felt that way, but Eric had plenty of stinkers

I think Taj gets muscled out of the play. We need somebody strong enough to fight for position. Being a wide receiver is kind of like playing basketball. it's supposed to be a 'non-contact' sport but why do they work out in the weight room? Because there's plenty of contact and you need to be able to 'stand your ground'.

Some of that is on the routes that the WR Taj is running. He needs to create more of a cushion between him and the sidelines. The windows are too tight between no separation by Taj against the DB and the sidelines so no room for TD to lead him anywhere but out of bounds.

Also, the legend of Dungey continues...Might be the best player college football has ever seen. Never missed a game. Started and finished all of the 10 wins of that season. Never got benched for terrible play... Did he ever lose a game at Syracuse?

The last good quarterback is even more popular than the back-up quarterback.

I feel like Taj did a pretty good job of fighting for extra yards.

Good point and a head scratcher. We continue to loft throws down the sideline. Low % throws and just dont get it. Like the fade at the goal line. Since ED graduated, we refuse the use the middle of the field for wrs or tes.

We've been throwing down the sideline most of the time since Dino got here.

The WRs are way to wide to spread the field to set up the run . Since we cant run move them in closer

Ishmael made a living off it.

Big difference in strength between Ish and Harris. I think Taj needs to be in the slot. He looked really good, especially yards after catch when we lined him up there.

Get Hendrix on the field and give him the outside with Queeley.

I’d take Eric Dungey back in a heartbeat.

I just watched the first half IN SLOW MOTION!!
yes tommy missed Queely that happens but omg the deep post to taj was money and total pass interference!! Then the first deep Pass under 2 minutes in the half taj caught it and was barely out of bounds another blatant pass interference! Pass was money than the next one on a rope he dropped even slow mo he might have interference again but a money throw again . I’ll watch the second half tonight
You really have to watch things in slow motion to understand. We got hosed

Slow motion? Man that sounds awful

Ish was insanely good at catching the ball and somehow getting 1 foot inbounds

You realize he probably had close to 8 broken tackles during the game and saying he is getting outmuscled is crazy. Kid plays above his listed weight.

Which is 164. 'Breaking' tackles can be a result of good moves rather than strength.

Agreed but did you watch his play? That was not all good moves.

He can be shifty enough to break tackles and still be slight/weak enough to get outmuscled for downfield position.
I wouldn’t call shiftiness a broken tackle. He got hit and kept goin forward. Agreed there is a difference but Taj broke tackles last Saturday.

But avoiding/slipping tackles or maintaining balance while someone is attempting a tackle is not the same as being able to maintain your position on the field when fighting for room aling the sideline. So, if you agree there is a difference, your comment about breaking tackles when someone mentioned him getting outmuscled along the sideline doesn't make sense.

Nobody's arguing that he goes down too quick. They are arguing that he is easy to push out of bounds when we keep throwing to the sidelines, and they are right.

100% agree which is why the original post was about being out muscled. I’m not saying he broke tackles by being shifty I’m saying he took some licks and kept moving forward. He showed his toughness and to not acknowledge that is crazy.
