Barring that unlikely coup, they will turn to Chargers special teamer Darrell Stuckey or look to draft a mid-round talent such as George Iloka of Boise State or Markelle Martin of Oklahoma State.

The "Saltine Warrior"

With it's provocative title, "The Saltine Warrior" was a strident sports song for the "Orangemen" of Syracuse University for a number of years after it's composition around 1912. This very interesting piece, which has nothing to do with a snack cracker but instead figuratively speaking cracks the whip on the university's sports teams, was created by Samual E Darby Jr. class of 1913, and musican David R. Walsh, class of 1912.

Note: This song was written for a student musical program to be put on by "Tambourine and Bones" entitled "The Saltine Gambol" in 1912. Included in the songs was a number about football men and from the words of this song came "The Saltine Warrior". Plans for the show were not finished but the song immediately gained popularity and became a popular fight song.​
